I recently gave up twitter, and I wanted to fire my Connor Hellebuyck take into a mostly neutral venue. The Ringer Podcast Network has a podcast called ‘The Hottest Take’ where their staff gives (sometimes) controversial opinions. r/billsimmons followers will sometimes post their own takes in the spirit of the podcast. I had this opinion I wanted to share about Hellebuyck being the best hockey player in the world.
The responses are just a bunch of people who don’t understand hockey at all.

1. You can’t make a good comparison between skaters and goalies.
2. It’s not even certain that Hellebuyck has been the best *goalie* over the last 5 years, not to say player.
3. He’s not even the best Connor on the team /s
If you actually believe in this hot take, you need to re-evaluate how you judge players or re-evaluate why you hold this opinion, because it sure as hell is not based on hockey knowledge.

I recently pointed out that since coming into the league, Connor Hellebuyck has the highest Goals Above Replacement, with Connor McDavid being second.
