Le record des Leafs n’est pas un mirage – les chiffres sous-jacents sont en train de rattraper leur retard.

  1. In a vacuum these stats are meaningless. Per 60 numbers compared to other teams would be a lot easier to understand imo.

Panthers are 4th in combined metrics?

How is Boston still so damn good? I don’t understand it

But Micah McCurdy told me the Leafs are average.

These metrics are all 5v5, EV, or all situations?

I wasn’t too worried about the Leafs underlying numbers at the beginning of the season because of all the injuries, but it is encouraging to see them rebounding nicely.

Getting Brodie back probably has the biggest impact on our xG%. He’s by far our best defenseman at tilting the ice against top-comp. That being said, Sandin and Liljegren have been phenomenal with those guys out and have proved their 3rd pairing dominance wasn’t some Dermott like mirage. They’re both top 4 guys on a good team

Biggest change I see looking at basic team stats is that we’re 3rd in goals against. That’s the story right there.

Ah yes, notoriously good shooting team the… Arizona Coyotes are in third for team shooting percentage?

Wow Florida is on one hell of a PDO bender.

Looks like the Panthers and Hurricanes are poised to shoot up the rankings. I’m also not sure how far we’re being dragged down by our shitty start…
