I like the red pants on their white away jersey but I like the black pants on the home jersey. However, if there is a rule or logistics they want the same pants for home and away, then stick to black. Although I think the alternate jersey would look cool with red pants.
I have the same opinion about Carolina as I do Colorado blue pants, the Colorado home and Carolina home with black look amazing but the away jerseys are not so amazing and the pants look out of placd

This is why you should be able to customize or change a actual team’s jersey in the NHL games like in NHL23 which I can’t wait for they should add more realistic graphics (ray tracing Maby?) like with the pants they are semi shiny and dark at the same time, I don’t know how but they aren’t in the games, also better physics and hit physics instead of just curling up and snapping into the get up position. And I HOPE and I mean HOPE for more Goalie pads and more, way more skater equipment for the future games. Well Love your content! Cant wait for more jersey reviews!

Maybe they are trying out different looks last season the Blue Jackets had on Blue Pants for a couple Home & Away games . Hurricanes love the updated Flag logo on the 3rd would to see the Flag logo on a red Jersey. My favorite Hurricane Jerseys where originals with Silver .

As a 'Canes fan, I don't mind this as an alternate look. But I like the normal way better.
However here is what I wish the 'Canes would change in their pants. The normal Red pants I wish they would bring back the old pants the 'Canes used to have with their main logo on it and with the Black on the bottom of the legs. Then with the Black pants make them an inverse of the Red pants. Make it a Black pant with with main logo on it with Red on the bottom of the legs. I think it would make things more unique and also would complement their uniforms better.
As to next season I hope they don't change things but just tweak things for the uniforms. Here are the changes and thigs I want to see the 'Canes make to their uniforms to make them better:
Home Red: Tweak the collar to better match the striping. Black main part of the collar going all the way around with a White upper part all the way around. Keep the laces. Add alternate logo as a shoulder patch. Make Silver on the logos sparkle again. Bring back original Red Pants with logo and black around the bottom of the legs.
Away White: Tweak the collar to better match the striping. Red main part of the collar going all the way around with a Black upper part all the away around. Add laces. Make Silver on the logos sparkle again Bring back original Red Pants with logo and black around the bottom of the legs.
Alternate Black: Add Laces Make Silver on logos sparkle again. Make the pants look like an inverse of the regular pants, Black with logo and Red around the bottom of the legs
Heritage (Whalers): Tweak the collar to match the striping. White main part going all the way around with Blue upper part all the way around. Add logo to pants.
Vintage (Home Red 2008-2013) {New Addition}: With this slot add back the jersey that made the team famous and kinda the one they won the Cup in (I like it better with the yoke piping)

I really dig the black pants and helmets for Carolina. Brings more contrast to the overall look. But only for the home set. Away I think it looks better in red.
Personal opinion: Hurricanes have the worst uniforms in the league. A lot of us in my part of the world have nicknamed them Candycanes.
Black looks wayyyyyy better on the home's. The bottom of the jersey's black, and it had red pants. That didn't flow. The reds look better only on the away's. The black helmet and gloves work perfectly too. I say keep it.
The only problem is that it kind of looks like NJ now.
I think it looks better on both uniforms, but there's already a team in their division with basically the same look.

I don't remember which Canes commentator said it (Mike, Tripp or Shane) but their explanation was that the front office wanted to 'see what the uniform combo looked like in action'. They are obviously open to adjusting the uniforms, considering they have been wearing black at home more frequently this season (and the entire playoffs). Since they went back to the red pants, I guess that was the result of their experiment. I like the black pants better aesthetically, but I agree it is too similar to the Devils unfortunately.
