McDavid had 2 pants against Ducks but was MINUS 2 enough said. The jets had the same problem with our two stars last year, but not this year.
Very good look at things.I think a change in how he rolls his lines could help.Playmaker,forechecker and a scorer is a winning formula.Maybe a slightly different approach would help.
For example just because McDavid is the best player doesnt mean you have to play him as that. For example Mc David top line with Draisatl as a playmaker and a young player on the other wing.Connor center with Leon on the wing and a player other than Hyman on the other wing.A little change on defensive pairings as well.A move of Tyson Barrie to Anaheim for Klingberg would be recommended

high danger chances conversion is down. i think that Kane helped a lot in that regard last year. Shooting percentage … meh, down a tad but you can't say those 6 goals we would add thus far this year would be evenly distributed in one goal games. Could be in games that we are down by three. Or up by three. You know the old saying that statistics are for losers, and of course if the Oilers are losing, the magnifying glasses come out with pundits looking for a trend, a theme … Here's one for ya; how about the Oiler D not covering like a pee wee foam puck scrimmage. I think they are missing Mike Smith and his leadership and puck moving back there. Duncan Keith retiring hurts as well. The Oilers need to simplify and play better positional defense. All players can be better playing D
Nurse is by far the heaviest anchor on this team. Followed closely by Campbell. Nurse isn’t going anywhere. Besides the fact he has a Full NTC, he’s close with McDavid. His dad is also very close with McD dad.
The only way out of that ridiculous contract is for Nurse to earn his pay check and stop playing like a rookie that is overwhelmed with the pace of play.
I can't see McD sticking around year after year of this, superstar players like him don't play the game just to rack up points and collect a paycheck.
Simple the Oil pass up to many high grade scoring chances by trying to force a pass through defenders instead of shooting the puck to score or at least make the goalie give up juicy rebound and give the player driving the net get to that rebound but time and time again pass first mentality instead of shoot first. Connor is scoring more this yr by scooting pucks he’d pass before I think last yr in the playoffs after Leon got hurt and he had to be the shooter on that line sunk in but Leon still pass first, the problem is Leon and Connor are the best shooters on the team they are the only 2 guys that have a chance to from distance. We have 2 of the games best passers the problem is if they aren’t passing to each other good luck any other forward scoring if it isn’t from 5 ft and even then it’s a struggle for the other 12 forwards.
I think we have to win a cup or Mcdavid is gone. With this defense and goaltending its not likely

The only thing you have to look at is Ken Holland's work this team is in the exact same spot as when he came into the org he's given away and got nothing back. Easily the main reason why oilers are still terrible not all these stats
