Sick Isaac streak continues! And I will be joining you. No Office Xmas party this year. A long weekend in bed with the Mavs and some tv shows sounds much more appealing anyway.
As for the draft and young players, Lukas style of play does not allow to develop Greens or Hardys on the team. They do not get into the rhytm. It is the same with co-stars. That is why Kidd does not start Wood. To allow him to get into his rhytm without Luka. This was the issue with Porzingis.
If you cant get an all star by trading him now. Might as well extend him before we lose another good player for nothing.

This isn't 2k, if we sir Luka and tank for the year, he will bounce. Honestly I'm not a Mavs fan I'm a Luka fan, but I'd love to see it work in Dallas and making him tank would pretty much lock in him asking out.

If Luka is playing, you cant tank. He will drag this team to .500 by himself. And if you bench him healthy, well look at how he complains at every non call lol. Dude just doesnt like losing. And if you tank with him, you lose him

Extend wood
it is not only drafting that Dallas failed. There were almost only bad or horrible trades and huge misses on free agents during the Luka era and they were the most important part of front office's failure. They gave away Harrison Barnes for a 2nd round pick. Seth Curry for Richardson then Richardson for basically nothing. When they had cap space they didn't sign anyone noteworthy. Extending THJ was idiotic considering there was a max space if he wasn't re-signed and there would be space for someone like Derozan. And then they didn't re-sign Brunson for pennies couse they wanted to dangle him as a trade piece and lost him for nothing.
Mavs wasted 5 years of Luka and almost every asset they had, but at least they took on a lot of terrible contracts like Bertans or THJ.
luck is involved, but the incompetence of mavs FO is evident, because he actually found a gem in the 2nd round but let him go to Knicks for nothing
Imagine how upset Luka would be after coming off a deep playoff run to hear, tank for Victor W.
Trading Wood should not be an option at this point. The goal is to obtain talent, the Mavs have too many less talented guys on this roster.

Luka and the front office stay out in their own lanes and don't usually interfere with each other, but I believe keeping C Wood will be completely Luka's decision.

I think Dallas should develope Hardy, Dorsey, Frank and Green to create assets. As for now with all the injuries Dallas looks rather like a play-in team than a top 6 team so why not go for it and grow your talent. Maybe they turn out as contributors. I´d also make an aggressive push for Myles Turner in the summer. He´s exactly what Dallas needs, a taller Maxi Kleber (btw I´d keep Maxi till he retires).
I´d get rid of Pinson who is basicly just a highly paid cheerleader. The terrible contracts of Bertans and McGee are dead weight and probably stick untill they expire. Dwight Powell is not the worst player on the team anymore but I´d not sign him again.

I'm not very big on players with injury histories but if i was Issacc form magic if i was going to take a risk it would be him
doing whatever it takes to get Timmy Bertans Powel Reggie Magee pension frank gone hopefully when it's done, they might get a couple of second's net. but they are gone.
hopefully we have seen what a old unathletic team is and they can't compete with the top young athletic teams at the top so no over 30 overrated injury prone players.
With Luka, Dinwiddie, Wood you are legitimately one piece away from being very good. I would trade anyone else to get that on extra piece to this team. Plus they were gonna offer Nerlans 16 million a year so they better cough it up and not be cheapskates for once. Wood gets rebounds, create his own offense, can post up, and shoot threes. Lastly, he plays well with Luka. I just think there should be some ironing out to implement him more in schemes like pick and rolls, alley oops, just the basic easy stuff with what he already brings to the table.
Knowing that this team only has one way of winning, which is hitting their 3’s. What’s the point of the playoffs? Sure you have the best player on the court any given match up but we’ve seen how far that goes. That’s a first round series or it’s a WCF appearance. This team is not a championship contender, Reggie is struggling to keep players in front of him and so is DFS. They really have no choice but to lean into their offense especially with all the injuries. The mavs must get guys who are more versatile in their offensive game and could be groomed into a net + defender. Mavs also need a legitimate big, sure rebounds aint the end all be all but having a center who’s has a significant presence in the paint.
Every win at this point is bad to me. Each win with this horrible roster buys time for the front office to keep it going and to not make changes. Need a bunch of losses for Luka and the fans to put more pressure on the front office and them actually do something.
Don't want to extend Wood too far. I hear at some point there are diminishing returns.

If the Mavericks don’t extend Christian Wood, I feel, that would be foolish. The focus should be on getting a center That can play alongside him and Luka. Losing Maxi for the year is an absolute crusher. I think the Mavericks should do whatever they have to to go get an athletic/defensive Center. The Javale McGee signing is SO BAD!!!! SO BAD!!

If they don’t extend him, I would say they can expect to loose Luka. You have a big that can spread the floor, roll , pop, he can beat other bigs off the dribble, creates for others. He is improving his defense and rebounding. What are we talking about? Dallas come from Conference Finals.
Yes we dont need to lose another young starting caliber player like with Brunson. But knowing Cuban he will let him walk for nothing. And max out Powell.
He needs to start with McGee. Quit playing Powell as the starting center. And move dfs back to three. Or start green as the three smfh.
You extend him no matter what, if only to protect your assets. I think he's more to the team than just a trade asset, but you extend him either way. And don't be a cheapskate when you do it.
The Mavs have this great habit of UNDER paying (or offering) good players, getting snubbed, then OVERpaying bad players.
You have a good player playing well on this team, don't screw it up by being cheap…again.
