bringing in 1 more D won't cut it. Our entire D core is bad. Honestly Nurse is a complete and utter failure. He's regresses more with every game played. Move him with retention and bring in defenders that can actually play the game
If someone does not play well in one position, can they move to another position? Like could Nurse change to forward?

AZ is asking too much for Chychrun, so I doubt that would be a viable option considering the cap and the need for a 3rd party willing to eat salary for several years. Besides, he's not known for his defensive ability. Similar skills for Klingberg, but probably less costly and easier to do cap-wise as he would be a pure rental (3rd team just needs to eat a couple months of cap). Gavrikov and Edmundson seem to make more sense as the Oilers are not lacking in puck moving or offense minded Dmen, but really need a big mean experienced Dman that can clear the front of the net and not get caved in playing on the 2nd pairing.
What is the biggest need in the team? Defensive D. 2LD (or 1LD depending on how you look at it) and possibly elsewhere depending on what the price for that LD is. Remember who's injured but will be coming back. The other need, candidly, is a goalie to play with Skinner who can play well and consistently. Right now that ISN'T Campbell but we're kind of stuck with him so lets hope he can pull it together and succeed the way we think he can and does it "sooner" rather than "later". It would be nice to have a 3LD to stabilize and teach Bouch a bit more (like Keith did) but we have others and you have to give them time too. Here's hoping Uncle Kenny can pull it off WITHOUT using our 1st rounder because you know there will be more needs coming. Uncle Kenny can also be VERY patient and there may not be a trade promptly no matter how much fans want it.

Maybe I'm out of the loop a little bit, but when have the Oilers/Holland said anything about looking for more on the blueline? From where I'm sitting, this sounds like a youtuber wishing that Oil management would do something. Perhaps I'm wrong, but there's just no room unless you move Nurse and unfortunately that's just not going to happen.

THE Oilers can't trade Nurse and won't trade Nurse, because he has a NMC and the depth on D is terrible. The only way they can do is find someone to play with him and someone to take some of his minutes away. Chychrun is a very good two way defense man playing on a bad team. Gavrikov would be another player I would go after. Trade a 2nd and Niemeläinen for him is what is the likely scenario for Gavrikov

but we already have a 9.25m defenseman… so not sure if we should be doing this. not sure if the GM should be trusted w a lot of trades. sure he got Campbell but it seems Oilers will have to give a lot away to dump Yama Pulju Foegele Bouchard -that is where the problem lies…. Have already given away draft picks etc to get guys like athanasiou green neal turris to get someone to take Kassian at $3m…. so maybe we just need coach to get these guys to play D & Score.

chychrun going to cost the Oilers, first round pick, Broberg and JP, Chychrun is young and has term, the other 3 guys are pending UFA’s and if your going to spend assets Chychrun is the guy you spend on.
Nurse discovered last year he plays better with one leg, which explains why he goes down so much on one leg. Sorry, Christmas is over, let the Nurse bashing games begin again. My first official Nurse bashing comment of 2023. It is truly remarkable that we somehow are stuck with a player that makes more than Makar and Draisaitl and we still have to bring someone in to help and teach Nurse how to play defense. Nurse would be a helluva 2 way winger. Have no idea why he's on defense. It's not a natural position for him. He's proven that himself since he was drafted. The Oilers got everything about Nurse so wrong since he was drafted. Nurse is the epitome of trying to fit a square peg into a circular hole. Go ahead Oiler brain squad, keep smashing the square block with a hammer it'll fit in that circular hole eventually. Let's put it this way I certainly don't trust the construction company called Oiler's Big Job Renovations to remodel my bathroom. We saw what they do with players. Can't trust them with my bathroom.
On what planet does Klingberg help? Other than his first couple of years, he's been a disappointment and a liability. He has never lived up to what he was suppose to be. If they sign him, they might as well throw in the towel because it makes them even more of a joke at that position. Edmonton has an AHL defense at best. When Nurse is your No.1, you gotta big problem.
