    Upside: No-vechkin goals tonight.

Downside: Fuck that was a waste of about 3 hours.

  2. VALIS666

Don’t even reach for the line blender, jerseys, refs excuses. The team was low energy bullshit from start to finish. Hope this was just a holiday hangover and things will get better.

  3. Sjdillon10

We lost because Adam fox was arrested today

  4. Never seen so many missed shots. And when can we end the Kravtsov experiment? Dude is a lost boy out there. Put Gaut on the ice more.

Solid defensive game by the caps, can’t take anything away from them there.

  5. shldwlf

I really will be surprised if we make the playoffs with this coach/squad. Heartbreaking that the team is worse than it was last year, but that’s the reality.

  6. guccikline

Holy fuck Gallant will switch every single line at any moment except our PP which as been awful. They let Igor down

  7. Grouchy-Power-806

Jimmy vesey doesn’t even look like he broke a sweat tonight in his post game interview lol

In about 15 minutes we will be within one point of being 6th in the Metropolitan division and, with that, out of a playoff spot. That little heater we were on gave us a lot of confidence just to wind up in the same spot we were in when we lost to Chicago. With how tight this division is, there will be at least one good team that will certainly miss the playoffs this time around. If we keep playing like this and giving up games we should be winning, it could easily be us. What a pity.

I was busy and missed the game. Do we have Covid? What the fuck just happened?

  10. Probtully

We earned the loss. Can say whatever you like about the referee’s, and they were bad early on. But we legitimately generated almost zero sincere offense.

Gotta take the L on this game, leave it behind and move onward to the next. We are talented enough to make some noise still, just have to find some motivation to do it.

Saw a bunch of talk in the GDT that a Caps win and an Isles win would knock us out of a wildcard spot but we have 43 points and the Isles have 40. So… that’s all I had to say. The way I’m looking at it we should still be in the last wild card spot.

  12. Jokercard08

After a gutsy win against the fishsticks they come out and play that shitter. Just unacceptable from a team that pretends their a cup contender, need to be better, top to bottom.

As I’ve said before, we will go nowhere with this coach and he demonstrated it again tonight. Were those two periods flat? yes. was it all the players fault? No. Some bad missed calls, some awful officiating the other way, and Trouba shoots it into his net. It happens.

The response cannot always be the line blender. it just shows the man driving the ship has no idea what the fuck he’s doing. just throwing shit at a wall and hoping it sticks. The players get no time to develop chemistry, and if you aren’t his chosen children (vesey, goodrow) you play every shift with a noose around your neck, never knowing when Goofus is gonna pull it closed and bench you for a simple mistake.

The lines he put out were laughable. but one is the one thing he refuses to touch? The power play, which I believe was 0/7 tonight.

People wonder why this team has no identity, no leadership, look no further than the man behind the bench.

Of all the shit games this season, this is the one that looks the worst for Gallant as the head coach. And I try really hard not to be a « fire the perceived problem » kind of guy.

  14. darkgrayallalone

That was a really ugly loss

  15. Envelopen

I might be in the minority but this was not that bad even though it was a shutout. It sucks the entire metro got hot at the same time we did but we had the puck a lot just shot wide too much. Caps played great defense, and Darcy showed why his name is on the cup. The thing i was concerned about was getting lazy in the last min of the 2nd and letting Eller skate right down the middle for a goal in the last 40 secs. A 2-0 game with big saves by Igor was a big difference going to the third than 3-0 after Eller’s goal. We were off onto the next.

The Rangers played a bad game tonight. Absolutely whiffing on 80% of shots is a disgrace. But it’s also a disgrace for the refs to fuck up AT LEAST 6 calls. You’re not even giving them a fair chance at that point. GG needs to put Laf and Kakko back with Mika on the first line, and Chytil and Panarin back together. Shake this shit off, don’t go back to that low confidence bullshit we saw last month, and dial in against Tampa Bay on Thurs

  17. jkman61494

If Kreider and Zib are such bros, maybe Mika can actually involve Kreider on the powerplay rather than relegate him to being a useless traffic cone

  18. JPmoneyman

The powerplay is definitely lacking in some creativity at this time, it’s clear that the little 2 man game Bread and Fox like to play in order to ultimately feed Zibanejad is a little stale, Kreider hasn’t been as big of a threat in front of the net this season and Trochek in the bumper is fine but he’s not a big threat to score either. I don’t think the answer is to start the second unit. I think maybe getting Putting Chytil on the Zibanejad side and Move Z to the bumper might provide a bit of a spark. Chytil and Panarin can drive to the net from the wings and Fox can play his game up top while Z floats around in the high slot looking for a pass from Chytil, Panarin or Fox. It might it work but ultimately I think mixing it up with two someone on the left side who can dish the puck and isn’t the focal point to score might spark them a bit. Maybe even move Trochek to that spot but I think Zibanejad should move to the high slot.

  19. AIC_333

We just need Blais, clearly him being scratched is why we lost

  20. Kaapo-Taco

8-2 in the last 10. Let’s all put the wine down and rebound in 2 days

  21. That was arguably our worst game of the season.

Rangers didn’t get severely outplayed but that was just a team incapable of producing any sort of offense when given the chances. We only tested Darcy in the last 5-10 min of the period. Just a terrible game all around.

They need to practice hitting just hitting the net this week.

  22. 404FunnyNotFound

What do you think it will take for Gallant to switch up the PP

I know Chytil was out there at the end for 6v4 for but at some point you have to try something

  23. kingfarouk

What a bummer of a game, I hope we can get an awesome rebound against tampa on Thursday also I don’t think the refs like us very much

  24. glacier_bay

Someday, NHL refs are going to face the media after every game, same as the players and coaches, right? Right? It’s a good idea to hold refs accountable so that people don’t start to realize that professional sports in North America is fixed, right? Right?

  25. gleyberhood25

I’m so tired of gallant jumbling the lines after 20 minutes. The lines have been good the last few games. Panarin-zib-Goodrow; kids; kreider-trochek-vesey; gaut-brod-krav. Just leave them and let the guys gel
