The Sharks getting a top 5 pick and getting made fun of > winning meaningless games and getting no cup like 99% of teams .
Literally speaking some team with great cap management could be a bottom 5 team 8 years in row and turn that team into a multiple cup winner where some team that is a 1st round exit in the playoffs type team does not really improve or have the ability to.
The Preds could have traded Forsberg at least years trade deadline since his stock was at an all time high and they had almost no chance to win the cup. They kept him and gave him a big raise and they are even worse now. They might have gotten 2 firsts for him at the deadline or something great.
It is like the Sharks giving Hertl that big raise when they were already bad with him.
Sometimes it is by far better to have a cheap roster and be a bottom 5 team for a few years.
