    Everyone forgets they both have cap hits of $10M. Edmonton has ZERO cap space so they're not doing anything for the balance of 2022. Winnipeg has less than $1M so they're stuck. Few teams have the cap space to absorb either one of these poor souls.

    The Blackhawks made terrible decisions in the late 2010s when attempting to re-tool. They wasted a lot of Kane and Toews prime years. Now they are getting old, they need to trade them while they still have value and commit to a rebuild.

    Save them from what? It is the very contracts they signed that have put CHI in this boat, all the players they had to shed to stay under the cap, Have no sympathy for players like Toews who earned 113 MILLION in his career for a team, great player for a long time but, big reason why team went in the direction they did because he was an anchor on that team playing like a $3 million AAV guy getting 10.5. This team is in great shape to make another run for cups in 3-5 years, doing the same thing that got them Kane and Toews in the first place.

    I feel they should have traded them maybe 2-3 years ago when they had immensely more trade value.
    The Dach trade doesn’t look all that good in hindsight either.
