A bit of a drop off after Stützle, somewhat concerning. It could possibly be remedied by evening out the power play time for the two units. Can’t say we could imagine Giroux leading us in goals. Is this Mathieu Joseph’s ceiling? I was really expecting more from him after last years run at the end of season. However, they were in meaningless games, and his stats would’ve been inflated from playing up in lineup. I think he could be used differently to spread out the scoring through three lines if they got creative. I say could, because when our top two lines are firing, and we are healthy throughout the lineup it seems we are fine. For example, with Pinto on a third line scheme, we would have more depth scoring. My concerns from the stats are the plus minus which seems to be mirrored somewhat from some of the poor xGA/60. It is kind of aligned with our record, and that we would be exceeding expectations to be competitive playoff team for this year. Still a few things to workout, team defence zone structure, young players need experience, and chemistry with all the new parts, compared with last year. With all that said, the top five scorers are amazing to see, go Sens go!

  2. It’s interesting that only G is the only + player among the top six forwards. It’s also puzzling how he’s been able to accomplish this.

Batherson listed as a C? Weird

Hopefully Norris is back soon, little bit concerned he hasn’t seemed to be mentioned lately though. Think the last thing I saw a week or two ago was he was taking part in the PP drills, anyone seen anything else?

Lotta scoring options and production at the top. Once we shed Watson at the trade deadline, the bottom six production should pick up. Brass works best as a fourth liner to give those others options.

+/- isn’t a great stat but it kind of confirms what I see on the ice and that’s Tkachuk and Batherson especially are terrible defensively. Tkachuk always cheating and cherry picking when the puck isn’t even out of our zone, and never covering the points properly and I can see why, its his skating and its harder for him to stop and go. Batherson’s issue is the effort on the backcheck, and he seems to always lose a board battle in the D or neutral zone. Doesn’t show the same compete he does in those zones as he does in the offensive zone.

Amazing offensive players, but way below average defensively. This team isn’t having any success if these 2 don’t improve in that aspect, or they get a coach that makes them more accountable in that aspect of their games.
