At least they gave them a make up call with the penalty shot last night. That should not have been a penalty shot ever, but even as a canes fan I’ll accept it as them trying to balance out a bad call with another bad call 😂

Two wrongs don't make a right. Errr…. five wrongs don't make a right? Offsides, missed slashing penalty, bad goal scored due to both mistakes and then they f*ck up the video challenge, and finally penalize Columbus for the challenge. The blind leading the blind! Literally the VERY LEAST they could do, they did, taking the BS penalty off the board. Get your sh*t together NHL.
People are really whining about this. The offsides call was about as close as it gets and on top of that, they scored the goal having nothing to do with that call, so deal with it.

i'm a fan of both teams and that was a bad call. To be honest it doesn't surprise me that there will be bad calls in any sport it's just unfortunate.

When I started getting into the NHL 15 years ago the linesman would've let this one go, no questions asked. Much better that way. What does this matter, really? There are three defenders in good position. The inches we're talking about here are totally non-consequential.
Blue jackets had many chances to get the puck and clear it instead they got worked on the forecheck….the offsides didn’t affect play at all. The hockey gods did what was right.
even without the other angle he sure looks like his body was forward of the line. Screwing this up is maybe a wakeup call for the referees and the idiots in Toronto. He sure took that well though.

This is horrendous… seriously… this isn't sports.
For those of you not sure how this happened, Elliotte Friedman explains it in his podcast. Basically, the call dispatcher did not mute themselves and remarked that it looked like a good goal, the refs thought this was the league's answer.

I'm glad that goal counted!! The offside should NEVER be up for review in the first place!! That fanatical level of precision on offside calls is not needed and not wanted!!
I don't think these kind of things should be reviewable anyways,it's better to let the game play on. They either call it or they don't that shit happens in every sport just learn to live with it.
Take the penalty off the board but not the goal? How is that fixing the mistake and moving forward?
They need to do this in football more often. If its clear and you fucked up make the right call, even if at first its a bad call.

So the penalty was removed because it was offsides but the goal stands because it was offsides?
They set a precedent by cancelling the bench minor part way through the penalty, but not the goal which, should have been discounted as well. Another league screwup, great job.

The people in toronto made the wrong call, it was someone in the situation room that said the wrong thing by mistake and the reff took the headset off too quickly. They reviewed it properly. They just said the wrong call which doesn't clear this up. Just saying. The technology still stands true
When it's so close I'd rather go with a call on the ice. It happened a bunch of times a few years back to the Sabres. Goals called back after 2 minutes in the zone.
