They never seem able to play a full 60 minute game. Never ever. The closest from this season that I can remember was the game vs Seattle 5 days ago. Other than that, they look good for 20, 40, sometimes 50. Almost every game gets "exciting", can never just close games out.
One trade is not going fix this team’s defense. They are soft and they are careless. And that applies to a lot of them. They take turns throwing away games (tonight it was 27 & 2, & 25 on the PK). 5 on 5, this team is neither desperate nor consistent – and they play like they are Entitled. Entitled players don’t learn from their mistakes and they think that they don’t have to play 60 minute games. … Don’t count on them making the playoffs – because the Golden Knights, the Kings, and the Kraken want it Much More than they do.
At least Campbell had a 100% save percentage! One thing to account for is that their record was basically identical and then they turned it around when Kane came onto the team. Not excuse for such a bad turnaround though. Hopefully we can turn things around against a weak Colorado team on a 4 game slide. It’s all about staying positive!

Atrocious defensively, I’m almost wanting Bouchard to get traded and my respect level for Nurse is at an all time low. Very disappointing and Holland should be trying to move multiple pieces to improve.
Can’t disagree with your take on the game. A drastic move has to be made to get this team to where it has to be. Was watching Stalock and Jones playing well for the hawks makes you wonder what’s wrong with the Oil. Hopefully not a repeat of 2017.
The Oilers need more than one defensman. They are stuck with a defenseman that makes 9.25 AAV that is worth 3 at the most. We need to move Draisaitl have Nurse go with him. To free up cap to help this team. As much as I like Skinner he is a backup Goalie. We have McDavid, Hyman, and maybe 3 others that care and then the rest of the team. Holland is responsible for this. I hate to say it, but fans around the NHL have always said the Oilers are and have always been an average 500 team and somehow overachieved last year. They may be right. Kane and Hyman seem to be the only players that consistently knows how to read a play when on the ice with McDavid and Draisaitl. I knew right from the get go not having Kane in the line up would derail the Oil's season as Holland is completely useless. And had demonstrated this over and over again. I stand by my previous post giving Holland massive credit for the Kane deal. But let's be honest it was that deal that saved his job. Fast forward to today…. WTF does Holland do all day? Lol Is Holland seriously waiting to see who's tanking in the standings to see what his own first round pick is shaping up to be? Message to Holland, you don't have to look far to see who's tanking in the standings, they're right under your nose and they're called The Edmonton Oilers. Holland guessed wrong with Nurse, Holland guessed wrong with Campbell, may have guessed wrong with Woodcroft and Skinner – we'll certainly get a better picture of the Woodcroft and Skinner contracts at the end of the season. There's absolutely no doubt Holland's shitting bricks about making his next move because his next move will most likely mean the unemployment line or a nice big fat raise.
yup its plain to see that they get comfortable after being up 2 goals and they did all but sit along the boards and lean on their sticks and watch seattle pepper Skinner. I hate how lazy the Oilers are this year. Almost as bad as last year before they fought back. They know it takes a full 60 minutes of effort to win games and yet they repeatedly meander around in 1 or 2 periods and then play catch up hoping they score enough to overtake the lead.

When you have 2 of the most gifted offensive players in the NHL on your team that are not great defensively (especially one) you need even more commitment from your forwards. Also, why does this management team get blinded by offensive defensemen. Having one is enough you don’t need 3 or 4. They are committed to Nurse, so I would trade Barrie and either Bromberg or Bouchard. Ceci has been a solid surprise, Kulak has never been great prior to joining the Oilers, he strung together some good games during the playoffs but he is back to being average at best. Bottom 6 aren’t NHL players. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see LD traded. Not sure why people love Kostin, he looks slow and seems to watch the puck a lot, although he is one of the few physical players on the team. This team is in trouble and it’s again managements fault. Clean house again starting with Nicholson.
