Here is another Luka fact that is something to me…
Years 1-4 Lukas TOV% was on average 15.1% with his best year being 14.8%
This year his TOV% is 11.5% while he also has his highest AST% and Usage rate
That dropoff is crazy if you think about it. He drives more, plays more in the post, plays more crazy passes… but somehow he takes way better care of the ball as well. I cant remember the last time a primary ballhandler got so much better at this part of the game while being stagnant for many years.

Look at the Chicago Bulls. Learn from the Bulls' mistakes. (as well as other teams that made moves for 'name' players i.e. TWolves)
1.) They have a "2nd Star". Heck, they even have Vucevic as 3rd option. —> The quality of the star is more important than the name value and max contract. Having a "2nd Star" guarantees nothing.
2.) They're a 21st ranked defense —> Never, ever "Shut up about defense". It takes a Top 10 offense AND defense to win a title.
Keep Lavine, DeRozan and Vucevic as far away from the Mavs as possible. These guys are just not "IT" for the Mavs. There are many other name players just like this. Don't just clamor for a deal for the sake of getting a deal done.

1: free throw percentage
2: off ball movement

Mavs over pays their role players, i hope they don't cheap out when they really need to pay someone.
Perfect player to pair with Luka? Either an all star level 3D forward, an all star point/shooting guard that can def, or an all star defensive center that can shoot 3s. Based on the current available talent, Siakam is the perfect fit. If they're not keeping Wood who is a perfect fit for Luka (and one they should sign right away), at least get one of those All Star player types.

… a 10% jump in free throw percentage, which is about the most a great player has ever jumped and maintained, is less than a point or two PPG increase, which is matched or eclipsed by a 3 or 4% jump in 3pt percentage which, for whatever reason, happens way more often. And both are far less impactful than additional improvement in generating high quality 3s (and confident/expertly-fed 3 pt shooters). Free throws are about to be the new rebounds — sell, sell, sell! Mavs need to go over and above to sign Wood. With the TV contract coming up which will give big SC increase to the team….signing him to a good money, 4 yr deal is the smart move as that will be a steal price tag after the increase.
Luka must change his free throw form to greatly improve. Just the fundamentals. Ball starts above waist in FRONT of him (not over his head), elbow has to be “in”, he has to bend his knees more, and release angle at about 55 degrees to floor. His concentration is good, but he has far too much movement in his shot and releases it over his head. Magic changed his form and went from 65% to 90%.
OG is one of the perfect pieces to fit this Mavs team and for Luka and a under the radar player that should be definitely a top target is Alex Caruso. Your team becomes an immediate favorite to come out of the west. Just imagine this as a potential lineup. Luka, Caruso, OG, DoeDoe and Wood while still having Dinwiddie and Green off the bench.

Mavs FO after the Debacle of the JB contract talks from last year, they better find a way to sign or trade Wood for a better player without giving up the house and all our future draft picks again! If they were willing overpay to sign JB for 4 / 110M to keep from Knicks? But your not willing to pay Max 4 / 77M for Wood? Wood is a better fit and just as valuable as JB was! I rather have Wood then JB, they had chances to replace JB with a good player, Dragic but they didn't seem to think a 3rd ball handler was a big deal and would not be missed! They were WRONG AGAIN!
They need to keep upgrading the talent around Luka if we want to win a Championship! Keep Wood and keep upgrading the bottom of the roster with better players! They need to upgrade Frank N on this roster and get a real center who can block shots and move his feet! He doesn't even need to score; DP can't score, and Luka makes him playable! How hard is it to find a Big Ban who can play defense??? C'mon Mavs FO find a playable Center in the G League or somewhere! And get rid of McGee if you can't play him!!!!!!! What a Waste of Money!
