Why do so many of you fail to gather those pissed off right now are mad because we are in that position again. Again

  2. UpsetMagpie

You realize the coaches did get fired, right?

  3. absoluteunits17

We gotta stop hanging on to last years WCF birth. Being in the WCF last year shouldn’t be our goal this year. We aren’t trying to make last years playoffs

Woodcroft said that this team is not the same

  4. Snarffsnarff31

The thing I’ve learnt is you can’t please everyone. Some people views and outlooks are very rational and impartial. Some people have troubles computing how things work and some just say shit to stir the pot knowingly. Even if we win a cup one season. There will always be fans who will bitch and complain despite achieving the ultimate goal.

Don’t get too high, don’t get too low, stay even Kiel and enjoy the ride

  5. Ch1naNumberOne1

Eh bud fuck u, go fuck yourself, and fuck riiiiight off.

  6. Late-Recognition-225

Dude. If you think fans should be happy about a team that is fighting for a wild card spot after going to the WCF, then you are nuts lol. Last years team had bouch, Keith, kulak, ceci and nurse playing very good hockey and defence. This year Keith is gone, Bouch is awful, I barely notice ceci out there, kulak is proving he’s a 3rd pair guy playing 2nd pair, and broberg isn’t ready for the bigs yet. If Holland doesn’t fix the defence, the Seattle Kraken will probably take our playoff spot. Let that sink in and let’s see how happy you are about that lol

It’s deja vu from literally every season, good or bad. This fan base is packed with dumbasses with their basic sports talk radio whinging. It’s been bad on this subreddit for years.

  8. Racethepenguin

Now go back to 2018 after we had some success the year prior!

Did our team have a great year last season? Yeah!
    But it’s not last season.

  9. man_machine_poet

Set a reminder for this time next year.

    Now *that* would be interesting.

  10. Wtf is it with people using quotations to try to drive home their superiority complex. People wanting the team to be better are absolutely fans, just as much as people like you who are more concerned about what other people are saying

  11. Industrialrevo

Both sides need to chill. Did we have a disappointing first half? Yes, yes we did. But I can count at least 6+ games that we deserved a better outcome/it could have gone both ways. And yes we have won a couple we didn’t deserve as well. But really, we could, and should be at least 4-6 points higher in the standings.

That being said, there is a reason they make them play all 82. We were in the playoffs by American Thanksgiving so statistically we are a lock. We haven’t been on a real heater yet and I think that’s coming when Kane comes back (4+ win streak). We will likely finish 2nd or 3rd in the division and play Seattle or LA in the first round.

The doomers need to just ride this one out and see what Connor, Leon and the boys (notorious strong finishers) can do in the second half. I bet it’s impressive. You have to remember, we have had multiple injuries and rehab situations to key players and once everyone is back 100% we will see a different team. Holland just needs to add a second pairing shutdown d-man for whatever it costs and ideally a penalty killing specialist 4C that switch to wing and chip in a bit 5 on 5.

The denialists need to realize that this team should be much better and that there should be a real concern about dropping out of the race if we can’t gain some stability in our team defence. But in The end we will be okay, just watch and see. The cavalry is coming and we will finish strong.

I’m kinda in the middle, and I really like it here.

We should really be concerned that we can’t keep the puck out of our net. We win games by having to put up 3-4 goals most times. Good lord, even the Ducks have a SO, and we don’t. We should be improving. Being at the same spot every year is not a sign of growth. Having never won the president trophy with this core is alarming as well.
We want the Oilers to be great, not Boston great, but at least a Pittsburgh or Toronto great (during the regular season).

We can’t rely on « oh we did it last year » to carry us through. Last year is done and forgotten. In fact, if we can’t replicate and build on that, it will show that last year was a fluke rather than us being a team of that calibre.

On the other hand, patience is a virtue. The « Fire Holland » and « Holland sucks » ppl are giving themselves too much credit. This guy has probably been doing this longer than some of you were born. It’s the height of self-importance to think that you who have never owned, coached, or managed a team are gonna be more reliable than Holland. I’m sure he’s aware we need D. I’m sure he’s aware of our records – quite literally in the Oilers+ video, you can see that.
Some of you need to be reminded that you know at least 60% *less* than the front office.

We are gonna lose games. It’s quite literally impossible to get W’s all season. Yet every single loss, you see the same people whining. Like cmon, we’ve had bad losses, but *JESUS DEVONTAE CHRIST, NOT all of em* were bad. Those people complain like it’s their goddamn day job. You see them on every post since October, whining about the team. Some losses we should be able to shrug off and not attribute to bad plays by the team.

ALSO, I hate the way some people treat players when you think they’re doing badly. And then hide under the « oh he makes $$ so it doesn’t matter. » That’s a terrible mindset. It’s like saying the homeless person doesn’t deserve my respect because « he doesn’t make anything. »

  13. Feowen_

I love how people are blaming Holland for moves they were generally rather happy with in the summer. And now they’re blaming him for not conjuring up a solution out of his ass.

Lol fans. All emotion no logic

  14. BetterTreat

This is funny. Good work on exposing what a bunch of drama queens the fake fans are.

  15. conventionalhell

Honestly the oilers have been the most dissapointing team this szn

  16. cows1100

Fans are idiots, bruh. Who cares what they think.

Edit: I thought this was r/hockey. Point still stands. Hi, Oilers, bros. Team can still definitely go all the way!

  17. Chadwick_Strongpants

You’re kind of a fucken idiot eh? This team is defensive shit and it’s 100% Holland’s fault. Who gives a shit what we did last year, getting swept in the WCF by a real team doesn’t get us a ring. We got by on a LOT of luck last year and not a thing in our defensive game, even when we win, indicates we have ANY chance of making it out the first round.

  18. Someone who criticizes choices made by the management and the players isn’t less of a fan than someone who blindly accepts and waives the faults that are made.

You can be a fan of something while also being critical about it. This subreddit’s regulars need to grow up.

  19. bezjones

Cool, and if we’re fighting for a wildcard spot next year? And the year after? And the year after that? And then McDavid and Draisaitl request trades cuz in 10+ years of playing for the Oilers they haven’t made it to the SCF?

I’m not sure how « we’re almost as good as we were last year » is merit for telling us to chill out. We’re wasting away the years of contract of a generational talent that we may never see again on the Oilers in our lifetimes.

  20. RedKryptnyt

People do understand the type of run the oilers had to go on to finish with 104 points last year right?

  21. yosoyboi

I just can’t be bothered to get that upset.
You’d think oilers fans of all people would know how to ignore their team losing. How did y’all get through the decade of darkness without an aneurysm.

  22. When do they hang the Banner for getting swept in the WCF all while having all-time performances from 97 & 29?

The bar is so low it’s embarrassing

  23. gordonbombae2

I understand we’re getting tired of doom and gloom and last year we did make it to western finals. But our season last year was a roller coaster and we had to fire our coach and get a rookie coach to come in which worked but is now not having the same effect this year.

This city is don’t with having a bad or mediocre team. ESPECIALLY when we look on the standings and see Mcdavid and Drai 1 and 2 in scoring.

We are tired of and don’t understand how this organization can’t build a team around the 2 best players in the league, especially when we’ve had 8 years now to do so… it’s unacceptable and I feel bad for McDavid and Drai to be on a mediocre team when they’re so good. They both deserve multiple cups and I don’t think they’ll get it on this team the way the organization has failed them so far

  24. Quirky_Ad_8732

Mcdavid and Drai are exciting players and scoring tons of goals feels great, but defence wins championships. I would be shocked if their style of play won a championship.

  25. JessePuljujarviHater

Fans should only drink the kool-aid

  26. JeFF1957HuGHes

With the talent the Oilers have, they can win games with good team defense. You can have mediocre defenseman and goaltending, and still win, especially considering the talent of the Oilers forwards. Your two star players have combined for 130+ points and are +3, +4, respectively. They need to lead the way defensively.

  27. JoelSlBaron

I agree, and I know I am one of them
