  1. Avs in 5. Better goalie, defense is immensely better. Blues have an edge in top 9 depth but only slightly. Top end talent will carry Colorado.

  2. Avs in 6, Landy is the MVP of the series this time cleaning up in front of the net and Mack and Rants walk out with 8 points a piece.

  3. Binnington/Husso will have to be outstanding–we will miss Krug dearly but the addition of Leddy has been difference maker, brings playoff experience. Faulk is backbone of STL D and if Parryko can step up then we got this.

  4. You are wrong about Jost. While he played more than 41 games for the Avs he did not play any games for them in the playoffs. You cant go on the cup if you aren't even on the team during the playoffs

  5. I’m a Blues fan…it’s ok to say Colorado is better…you have to be objective. Binnington is Jimmy Craig from Miracle…he does have ability to steal a game or two. I love this Blues team..but odds are against us. Doesn’t mean Blues can’t win. Let’s Go Blues. I am encouraged by looking at total Goals For and Goals Against for entire year…pretty similar. Getting Leddy and Bortuzzo (heart and balls of organization) back is huge…also having guys like Mikkola and Perunovich step up and play solid. And if you look at the tenacious backchecking from Blues in games 5-6 against Minnesota…you’re not going to stop MacKinnon/Makar all series, but if Blues keep playing hard-nosed hockey, throwing puck at net and putting in rebounds, passing it when those seams are available…then yes they can score and beat anyone. Very spread out offensive attack, and lots of guys who can score. Colorado is overall better. But they’re not the 1980s Oilers where it’s foregone conclusion that they’re winning.

  6. The Blues shock the world and steal the series in 7. Depth of scoring, goaltending, and special teams become the difference.

  7. I can tell the guy on the left has actually seen the Avs play. The guy on the right not so much. The fact that he said Toews is only good because of Makar, adorable. Just look at Toews +- this season. He’s a defense Beast. Avs in 6 if they let the foot off the gas. Colorado has shaped the way the game is played now. Pay your respects

  8. Love when people forget to mention that st.Louis loss alot of players to injuries all season and the covid19 protocol when they got swept 😂

  9. Hhmmm this isn’t the 2019 blues that won the cup. But it’s also a completely different team than the one they swept last year. The Avs would be smart to acknowledge that going into this series. Avs fans come off extremely arrogant as most fans get after a sweep by their team. I’m thinking either team in 7. But I do disagree with a lot of your points. I believe that after Makar the blues have the more balanced defense throughout the pairings. The Avs have an offense capable of a little more due to the superstar power factor. And I’d take binnington over any goalie not named vasilesky in the playoffs. I think this series comes down to what version of binnington decides to show up.

  10. Gonna be a very fun series to watch. Both teams score a lot and both can play D. Binny will need to steal a game for sure for STL but wouldnt surprise me if that week off screws the avs in the first game or 2 at home

  11. Blues gotta stay out of the box, defend and goaltending LBG! …………..oh of course and Kadri we haven't forgotten🤫

  12. Battle of the exes. Avs stomped Dutchy. Time to stomp RoR again and then hopefully Zadarov in round 3. I hope RoR comes out and says they are going to beat the Avs and get humiliated again.

  13. Breaking down last year's series.:
The Avs' sweep the previous year was almost entirely due to the Avs' top 6 (MacKinnon, Landeskog, Rantannen, Graves, Makar, Toews). They scored 33 (64%) of the Avs' total 51 points; had 73 (50%) of the total 145 shots; scored 8 (57%) of the 14 total goals scored on Binnington. It should also be noted the Avs had 6 empty netters in the series, which makes the series look more lopsided.

Even from the eye test, it was obvious the Avs' top line dominated. Every time they stepped on the ice, they tilted the ice the entire shift and usually left the next line in a great spot to continue the forecheck on O'Reilly's line. This series might be different, because Parayko is finally skating like he was before his hip injury and he was guarding MacKinnon in the regular season. He's the one guy who can likely stay with MacKinnon. If Parayko can do that, we're talking about a totally different series.

  14. LOL Parayko stopping MacKinnon, now that's funny. Even if somehow that happens, the Avs are also much deeper now than they were last season. The scoring is a lot more spread out and there are 3 legit scoring lines – not everything is concentrated with the top line anymore. Nichushkin is a legit 25 goal scorer, Landeskog is in peak form despite missing 20+ games entering the playoffs, Kadri, Bura, and Nich are having career years in contract seasons, and Lehkonen is a true 200 ft player. Let's not forget that Makar and Toews are goal scorers and huge difference makers. Toews scored one less in round 1 than Tarasenko etc but in 2 less games and all of them were amazing shots. EJ & Byram are back and they didnt play last season in the playoffs (EJ in the entire season). We are more rested than the Blues too with Kadri, Landy, Girard, Byram missing a lot of games at the end of the season. I hope Binnington plays more than Husso because he's clearly the inferior keeper. The Blues will win a game but the Avs are so much more powerful at both ends of the ice. This isn't a debate. Avs in 5.

  15. People are making the mistake of thinking this is the same Blues team as last year, it most certainly isn't. I think if Pavel Buchmevich gets going, he is going to be the Xfactor in this series.

  16. The most talented team doesn't always win, blues have valuable experience, more heart…..I bet avalanche are worried right now

  17. Blues have gone 6-12-1 (seeding RR apparently counts as POs) in playoff games since they won a cup. Really unclear how much that Cup winning experience is helping them. They have lost over half the roster from that Cup winning team. They have made some strong additions since last year: Buch, Saad, Krug (though unlikely to play this round), Kyrou, and even Leddy. The injuries on D will hurt them, and the Avs got stronger as well, with Lehkonen, Sturm, Manson, Byram, and EJ (healthy this year) plus Newhook, Murray, and JJ as black aces….and the best fighter in hockey to bring in if needed.

People talk about the size STL brings. But size only matters if you use it, and the first round had the Avs leading all remaining PO teams in hits/60. And the size difference is negligible anyhow, as STL only averages 0.42kg and 1.14cm larger (>1lb and >0.5inch).

Also, in the same time frame, since the Blues won the cup, the Avs have gone 19-9-1 in the playoffs. They have won as many games as the Blues have played.

My guess is Avs in 6.

  18. AVS will win it in 5…. Avs have depth and don't forget Ball Arena supports the team and can be intimidating at times.
