Sports/memorabilia collectors are built differently. That, and they spend more on these things than the average person even makes in a year.
Don’t expect the people winning these things to be the average fan who will hang this up in their basement. It’s likely people who own multiple houses, has an entire room or more devoted to their collection.
This and the Salming one was for charity which is nice to see the amount of money the charities are getting.
You gotta admit though, Leafs are smart. They know their target consumers. I don’t think even the Raptors do things like the Leafs are doing. Leafs pump money like crazy on literally anything.

A lot of people who have ‘everything’ love unique gifts such as this. It really isnt even the wealthy… just rich people that wouldnt blink at 10k. Surprised people dont know about this despite pop culture’s eyeglass on rich people.

I know a business owner who lines hallways with autographed jerseys like these. He has them in his house, gives them to his kids, and donates them to charities. There’s plenty of wealthy ppl that can do this.

Have you seen the money flowing through the sports cards hobby? Dozens of $10k-$20k+ cards sold/traded every day. I was a very small fish in that sea and had plenty of cards in the $2500-$6k range
