I struggle to understand why the Canucks would trade Bo Horvat to the Oilers who is a division rival when there would be at least several other teams interested in him.
The more I hear of Holland, the more I'm convinced he flunked math in high school. Isn't there anyone in that front office who knows how to operate a calculator? Evander Kane is coming back. That's $5.125M that has to be found somewhere. That's nearly all of Jesse's $3M and Foegele's $2.75M.
After they go, you're left with two kinds of players – 1) those we don't want to move and 2) those whose salary isn't enough to make a difference. How then, pray tell, are we supposed to work in a Bo Horvat, an Ivan Provorov, a Jakob Chychrun or anyone else meaningful without cutting into our core group? We can't trade Jesse and Foegele twice.

Bo Horvat is a center and I rather entertain a defensive d-man like someone from Boston.
Holland needs to go for it. Every year wasted with McDavid and Drai gives them more reason to not re-sign once UFA status comes calling.
At the same time, Holland needs to consult heavy with any move as he has a poor track-record in Edmonton already. But he's gotta do something big now, not later.

The defenseman I want to see in Edmonton is Matt Dumba. Right shot d man, from Saskatchewan, brings a nice edge, plays great in his own zone but can contribute offensively.
