@Oilers d'Edmonton

#EdmontonOilers #Oilers #KenHolland #NHL

  1. They won't get rid of Uncle Kenny unless he monumentally messes up and he hasn't. He can't force someone to buy something he's trying to sell if they can't afford it or don't want it. He's expected to retire fairly soon. He brought in Kane. He brought in Janmark. He traded a D we weren't using for a forward who is scoring at a higher rate in the last 9 games than Connor McDavid. He signed Hyman. He signed others. He went on eye test and numbers. Having a player not play to their potential isn't his fault. He's not young but he's got connections and a track record. He changed coaches for the first time in his career last year mid season. He resigned Skinner early. He has made a big impact.

Could he could have done more? He did what he could. He's not Precognitionant. The Oilers needed vets and stability. He brought in Keith. He brought in Green (like he knew Green would be injured). He tried bringing in others too for stability and helping. The LTIR situation isn't his doing. He didn't injure the players.

  2. Holland needs pressure. He needs to be kept on the edge of the razor so he doesnt sit back and put his shoes up on the furniture. Short leashes work.

  3. Get rid of Nurse, 9 million would go far. How many goals have been scored when he is on. Nurse makes me sick, I think a hospital is in store. Look his salary could get better players right now. Hey just my thoughts.

  4. We're halfway through the 8th season with McDavid and Draisaitl and there's still a very real possibility we don't even make the playoffs, let alone win rounds. Think about that!

This is Holland's team. He can't blame Chiarelli for leaving a mess. He built it and it's not getting the job done. Go ahead and make all the excuses you want. They, along with a toonie will get you a double-double. Excuses are for losers. This is the big leagues and it's a results based business, he's the boss and he hasn't delivered results.

If by some miracle, the Oilers should somehow manage to win the cup, Holland will have deserved the credit for that and I'll be the first to give it to him and do so cheerfully. But unless and until that happens, he will be judged by the results he's produced and to this point, those results have been pretty paltry.

  5. Tyson settle down. He will make that sneaky good move. But Tyson you know Holland is playing Moneyball here…..he brought in Kane at this time last year…Kostin earlier this season…under paying on both…he is brilliant. You wait. A home run is coming.

  6. Fans have short memories including yourself. Holland ha done some pretty remarkable things. The list is pretty long. The most recent giving Vinny the Giant a shot at the pro level. 3 consecutive wins with Vincent in the line up. Why he wasn't brought up sooner? Have no idea. Possibly because they needed a pro resume established for other D's or forwards to prep for a trade and needed time to put the pro playing time on the books. Maybe the plan all along was to bring Vincent up at this time in the schedule. The worst thing they could do is pair Vincent with Nurse. Vincent is all about shutting it down and Nurse is all about the opposite. Nurse would really hurt Vincent's plus minus. Darnell is 100% indemnified from mistakes he makes on ice. He'll never b moved, traded or benched. That gives Nurse 100% Carte Blanche as a player. Pretty sweet deal for Nurse. And Oiler fans have to live with that for a very long time. Getting back to Kenny. He can't force someone to make a deal or take an asset no one wants. It's obvious at this juncture if he's going to give up 1 or 2 first round picks it's going to be for a smokin' deal that includes a super star. I say don't hold your breath to wait for that deal. The most likely move Holland will make to clear cap space permanently for the remainder of the season is to waive a couple of players or trade away 2 or 3 for 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks. My guess is what you see now is your Edmonton Oiler roster for the remainder of the 2023 season. Which in my opinion, since the arrival of Vinny the Giant, Kieam the Dream and Yanni, is a pretty good roster. Even better if Holloway comes around and starts scoring and Nurse stops making mistakes.

  7. Hey D: u used the phrase multiple times, ‘KH just keeps on managing the team’. Correct. That is why he is called The Manager ‘ !that is what a manager does.

My question that perhaps u could research: is there a standard by which the NHL applies to accept a player being placed in LTIR ? Because yes I agree: KH uses that out on a regular basis. Ryan Murray conveniently on LTRI instead of being sent down: same now w It is saving KH from sending down vets who may / may not be claimed, but also will be super pissed and cause a team kerfluffle. Also, if Yamo goes LTIR, in three weeks there may very well be another injury and KH avoids sending down a vet again. I believe that’s his motivation.

  8. Easy turbo, I think your a little to high strung over this. Ken will do what's right for the Oilers. They are NOT the only team that is strapped to the cap

  9. This is one of your worst takes. Every GM is up against the cap, save for maybe 7-10 teams. LTIR compounds that. Take a broader look at the rest if the league.
Oh and kicking it down the road, well, trade prices come down the closer you get to trade deadline.

  10. I would think Mr. Dithers would be ……he has proven his patience overrides his hockey IQ too much. I’m not a fan.

  11. No roster moves are happening likely cause Kane isn’t ready to return. Maybe the moves happend and it’s just being kept quiet

  12. I feel like this video is a little unnecessary after a decent California road trip. If we go lose 3 in a row again at home then sure lets get ready to fire Holland for sitting on his hands but if we go win 3 more doesn't that not give us more info into what move needs made?

  13. ive bin saying almost the same thing , ty for bringing it up. put down the golf club an pick up the phone ken. fix/cut your dead wait player's an fix your blue line , would like to see ryan , warren an jp an maybe one more go that would free up some good space.. an maybe yamo too he gets hurt to often

  14. Holland should of been fired long ago him and Bob this why the wings would not sign him time for the oilers to get a new gm all he talk about is what he did in the red wings oilers will be lucky if the oilers get to the playoffs this was the best you ever said

  15. I disagree with the assumption that Ken Holland will likely get fired. It's no longer a 21 team league, and the salary cap means there's a lot of parity in the league. Also it's not basketball where 3 star players take up the bulk of a team's playing time and dominate a game.

He's made some bad moves and some good moves. Overall much better than ChiaPete. Why would a GM be turfed just after his team made the final 4? The team is just turning the corner and has began keeping the GAA down and winning consecutive games. Kane is due to return and will likely benefit the team greatly. Kostin is looking like a great trade and Desharnais is finally healthy to show if he can due in the NHL what he did in the A.
