  1. He's a rookie and has already become a fan favourite amongst Habs fans, Xhekaj already looks like a beast and his physicality is already fun to watch.

  2. Draw. Falling on top of a guy doesn’t mean you automatically win. It wasn’t a punch that caused lowry to go down. The fight was even.

  3. While not the best in terms of points, I am really happy for us to finally start seeing some more enforcers. I know there have been some few and far between, but now all of a sudden we have players like (I’m not even going to attempt to spell his name), Slafkovsky is a physical player, Moritz Seider can be physical. I really hope to see more of these players.

I would especially like to see some enforcers that still have the ability to score points. Some have in the past. Ovi is quite the physical player (even if he is a sniper and not an enforcer) and is about to break the all time goals record, although I’m not saying every player needs to score that much.

I’m also not saying we need more injuries in hockey, I would like there to be big hits that are also safe. It’s probably hard the best you can do to prevent that is deliver clean hits and try not to make the opponent fall in a weird way.

Either way, keep it up however you spell your name!

  4. Slight edge to Lowry, classic "miss your first few haymakers and pin the guy to the baord before getting whooped." Then Lowry lands the heavier shots while pinned to the board. Pretty strong rook though.

  5. The jets should trade a 3rd round pick for Xifi, he's a playoff monster!

  6. i only have time to really watch the blackhawks so im unfamiliar with the habs roster but i love this kid

  7. Has Wifi come close to losing a fight this year? He seems like he has a hit list and once he gets through it nobody will want to mess with him. Reminiscent of another Big tough defence man we had in the 70s' He is turning into a real beauty which MTL has been lacking for some time. Along with a true sniper in Cole and a REAL first-line center in Nick, and a few other surprises, this year, I feel like the rebuild is working on all cylinders. Can not wait to see what Hughes has up his sleeves over the next few months. We are going to only get better and if the draft cards fall in our favour, look out!!!!

  8. And he's still just a kid. Nobody will want to face him after a few more years in the gym.

  9. It's so crazy, but scouting and signing Xhekaj may rank as one of the best moves Bergevin made as Habs' GM. Like…nobody had this kid on their radar, and he is still leading the rookie d-man scoring race this year, plus he is a first-rate puck-moving defenseman, with just so much confidence, so much poise with the puck (he may turn out better than first-round pick Guhle). AND he is a scary guy who stands up for his teammates, while delivering just the most bone-crushing hits.

Incidentally, he's second in the NHL right now in PIM (ironically, the one man who definitively beat him in a fight – Nic Deslauriers – is also beating him in PIM supremacy, but it's close…the X-man has 77, and Deslauriers has 82)…if you want to get noticed as an undrafted nobody in the NHL, there's no better way to do it than by playing really well, and winning fights.

A year ago, people had no idea who he was…in September and October, we had commentators from Arizona to Toronto struggling to pronounce his name. But EVERYONE knows his name (and his story – the legend of Arber Xhekaj, if you will) by now. And the scariest thing about him is that he keeps getting better. He's been in the NHL for all of 43 games, and this is how he plays. Give him a year or two more development with the best in the business working with him to make him into a better player, and who knows just where his true ceiling lies?

  10. It's funny because i loved Arber way back in preseason and stated he was my new fave player.Furthermore i felt and still do that he was the most NHL ready.I wish he would get some added elite skate training because he is actually a smart hockey player he just lacks the fleet of foot to do what he wants to do.I still love him no matter what he has VALUE he is the type of player you want in a playoff run.
Now that i think about it Slavkovsky is never going to be a strong top 6 player so just maybe he could put his size to good use by smashing guys and putting fear into defensemen force turnovers with aggressive play but of course he needs better skating.
The habs need a whole lot MORE toughness they are imo the softest team in the league.

  11. OOOOO que le jeune est en train de sfaire un nom!!!!! oooo que je l aime pas juste un goon solide def en plus!!!!
