Great write up on the wings prospect pool. Available with subscription or work around(iykyk).

    Rankings
    1.Edvinsson 2. Kasper 3. Cossa 4. Berggren 5. Mazur 6. Wallinder 7. Soderblom 8. Buchelnikov 9. Johansson 10. Buium 11. McIsaac 12. LDN 13. Niederbach 14. Sebrango 15. Hanas

Good write ups on each. Then broken into tiers.

  3. RedWong15

Our LD could look real nice with Edvinsson, Wallinder, and Johansson. Swedish scouting coming in clutch lol.

Inb4 someone whines about the paywall.

There’s no doubt Yzerman and his scouts have done a great job getting talent in the pipeline. I do think they biggest challenge facing him now is figuring out how to attain elite scoring talent, because even with those prospects that area is still quite lacking.

  6. I can’t complain too much about this. He’s not here to hype players, so I feel like this is a pretty even-handed look at our pool. I can’t argue with our top three here and I feel like he acknowledges their strengths and potential without getting into hyperbole about greatness or ignoring question marks. I’ll take it.

  7. So basically both Edvinsson and Kasper are progressing well and on track to be very good players.

    > I hate this cliche but you really can’t teach hands like his at that size. He tries things, he usually pulls them off and he’s extremely comfortable handling the puck under pressure.

Can’t wait for coaches to beat any creativity out of him. Gotta make those safe dump and chase plays.

  9. SpiritBamba

I just wanna hear what he has to say about buchnelikov

Scheduled reminder that The Athletic is well worth the cost of a subscription for their Red Wings coverage alone.

Buy in now before they steal Bultman from us to take him national!

So you see stuff like this, and that the guys coming up the pipe are really good — and you still have a sizeable chunk of the fanbase wanting to sell everyone off for picks and restart the rebuild.

    Make it make sense.

Hope Dylan James can have a big D+2 year. Looking like he could be a big swing and miss. Although looking at other players drafted in his range I don’t recognize other names so I’m not sure how big the opportunity cost is there.

Just quietly twiddling my thumbs as I wait to watch teams try to deal with a future forward line of Mazur-Kasper-Hanas…

  14. AffectionateMrPink

Boston is dominating the league with Bergeron(37) Krejc(36) as top two centers but Larkin(26) needs to be traded cuz he doesn’t fit our contention window? Oh and their leading elite scorer Pastrnak was drafted 25th but we need a top 3 pick to make that happen?
We’re steadily improving with lots of prospects in the pipeline. Enjoy the ride back up the standings. Go Wings

Just gonna bide my time and wait for Raymond to rebound from a « sophmore slump » next season and become a 35+ goal scorer…

I got a Year of The Athletic for like a dollar. Do it, it’s worth it.

  17. Monkey10pts

Stevie built the back end first. This makes sense, we can get the dmen developing and when they come into dman prime, we will have the more recently drafted forwards hitting at the same time on ELCs. Thus opening our window. It’s interesting to watch unfold. I am getting impatient to see an end product, not out of frustration, but out of excitement.

Great to see some measured analysis on Cossa instead of Twitter constantly saying he’s a bust. Shit is so annoying.
