1. I really want the wings to be competitive & be in a playoff hunt, we have games in hand of most of these teams ahead of us I hope we just go on a run. Ik it’s unlikely but it would be great

  2. I know this is irrational, because I absolutely love the Red Wings. But, I am so loyal to Steve Yzerman for the years of pleasure and joy. He gave me while I was learning about hockey that as far as I am concerned, he should have the position of GM for as long as he wants it, even if we never get to the playoffs under him! Which, by the way, I know, Stevie Y will never allow to happen.

  3. I would bring up vrana & unfortunately send Berggren down only because he Is waiver exempt & it pains me to say that but I think vrana is ready to go & the goal scoring could be pick up

  4. MAN I HAVENT HEARD BROMES NAME IN A MINUTE. I wonder where he’s been & if he should get another chance in the nhl

  5. I would be so down for your show if it was like 15 min long. Too long every episode for the frequency. Sorry

  6. Id like to add, that not signing Larkin buy now and how long this has been going is putting some people over the edge.

  7. Yzerman has done a good job so far, given the hand he was dealt. I don’t think a lot of people realize how bad the team had gotten, and having to strip it down to the studs and start from scratch takes time.

  8. Having multiple top line injuries for vast stretches this year hasn't helped. Easily a hand full of games there we should have won, bc the team with vrana set the expectations…well he gone….then bert was … then zadina … fabbri … you get it. Look, edvinsson is gonna be a game changer, kasper is legit, mazur legit, we NEED a top line center, and we'll be playoff bound.

  9. Don’t forget the 2023 nhl draft. Ya never know they could hit the lotto and what happens with this rebuild if detroit finally for the first time ever wins a lotto. Boom they take bedard. Detroit is stacked in their pipeline with players yzerman drafted. The story’s not played out yet

  10. Yzerplan Yzerplan Yzerplan! The idea is to tank for one more year. Then in the draft Yzerman will use his Jedi powers to win the draft lottery and pick Bedard. It’s so obvious IDK WTF is wrong with all you people.

  11. I think the biggest, divisive issue with the Red Wings atm is Larkin. What he is worth a year and ramifications of signing him or not.

  12. Well said gentlemen, I agree with most of your conversation this episode. Some fans are just too critical and very loud about everything about this team. Season wasn't what we thought, but thats just sports, your predictions and expectations aren't going to go the way you hope.

  13. Great show guys!

It’s probable that the average hockey fan doesn’t realize how difficult it is to win a Stanley Cup.

There’s so much that has to line up even when you do have all the right pieces.

You’re not going to find a better NHL GM than Stevie Y. He has one goal and it’s the same goal the fans have.

I’m just enjoying watching everything unfold because it’s only a matter of time before a championship and getting there is just as fun.

  14. You need a few elite players to succeed. We don’t have any. We have a lot of good players and a couple very good but no elite.

  15. A rebuild where our highest pick is… #4. Check the picks for Tampa, Colorado, Edmonton, etc…

  16. What makes a GM stand out as one of the best is not only how well they draft outside of the 1st Rd, but how they cover their mistakes. Take the Nick Leddy trade for example. We traded a 2nd for someone clearly past his prime and I'll go as far as to say he played like he didn't even want to be here to acquiring a 2nd, Sundquist and Walman who in my opinion was a dead steal of a trade even if it were a one for one. Yzerman is still gambling at this point and if he hits big, he hits big but more time than not, he's acquired players at undervalue, and has been able to swap them for a return. That's what you want to see in a GM when rebuilding.

  17. people forget they won what? like 16 games just a couple years ago and now will end up right around a .500 team. He's made more good moves than bad and thats litterally all a good gm can do. Peoples ignorance of the cap is another problem. Had a guy arguing that the redwings have been one of the lowest spenders in the league for a while which means nothing. its the timing of spending that cap space when your core is ready. Its all timing and people dont get it. They have to get over the fact there will never be another team like the 2002 redwings. They were insanely lucky to have lidstrom, datsyuk and zetterberg at the beginning of the cap. without those three they would have been really bad way sooner.

  18. Do fans want to be competitive for a playoff spot? Or Stanley cups? I'd rather be a bottom feeder for a bit longer for the latter. Just making the playoffs isn't enough.

  19. To say Yzerman is better than Holland is really lowering the bar. When you evaluate the Red Wings you should compare them to the teams in their division. Buffalo, Ottawa and Montreal have all improved more than the Wings this year. You can make the argument that he has drafted well, up to the Cossa pick, but all that is conjecture until those picks make the team. The brilliance of Bowman was knew how to build a cup contender through big ballzy trades. He traded Primeau and Coffey for Shanahan, he traded 50 goal scorer Sheppard for Larionov. In Yzerman's four years as GM I have yet to see any trade that compares.

  20. the biggest criticism that I have so far is I for the life of me cant figure out why yzerman would take a team that has 0 stars would go out a load us up with c grade players adding to our depth ahead of one of the best drafts in the last 7 years. it makes 0 sense

  21. If six years of top draft picks doesn't fix anything then maybe getting better draft picks doesn't mean shit.
