I’m going to miss Jesse …really like him as a player…just wish it could have worked out for him here!..he seemed to do better when Tippett was the coach then under woodcraft!…sometimes the systems don’t always work for a player!

We have 1.125 million in available Cap now. Waiving JP would only give us 1.125 more (unless someone takes him up off of waivers). We need AT LEAST 850K more for Yamo so waiving JP isn't enough on it's own. JP and Shore would be.

jarvi could be great on another team but it’s clear that it’s just not working on the oilers.
It will be a mistake to trade PLRV. Hes a good 3rd n 4th liner, has been playing excellent as of late…Trade Yamamoto instead, he cant handle the physical play in the playoffs, Jesse can!

If they cannot get any value at all for JP, and they are asked to kick in a sweetener, Holland would first send him down to see if he clears waivers first. If he's claimed, his entire cap hit would be gone. If he's not claimed, it actually slightly improves the chance for a trade as he can be sent to the recieving team's farm and is not subject to waivers again if that team wants to send him down. Holland's no fool, logic dictates that waivers come before a negative value trade. For example the Kostin for Samorukov trade only happened once both players passed waivers.
Some big players take longer to develop. For example Vinny D is 2 years older than Jesse yet just played his first gane a month ago. Valeri Nichushkin, a top 10 overall pick in 2013, was waived by Dallas at the age of 24 (same age as JP is now), went unclaimed and signed the next season with COL. There, he's gone from making $850k, to signing an 8-year $6.125M/yr contract and is a premier power forward and Stanley Cup Champion. I think that if JP is waived, a team with lots of cap space would pick him up for the rest of the season, especially since he's only going to be RFA, not UFA this summer. Both CAR and CBJ have plenty of cap space and JP's former linemates Liaine and Aho might tempt their teams to take a flyer of JP. MTL also needs bodies at FWD as they have lots of injuries.

as much as i would love a chychrun trade i just cannot imagine it will work money and roster wise. it would be an amazing pick up especially for the next three or four years. But my guess is that ken holland wants to develope proberg into a solid top 4 d man so they dont have to bent over backwards to make it work money wise
