If he wanted to come here that badly he should have asked the Blackhawks to ask for less for him to make the trade happen. Multiple reports the Blues deal was better.

Sounds like he wants (or now wanted) to be a Ranger. When he says “for obvious reasons” he definitely means NYC and to play with Panarin again.
Technically if the Rangers cut down their roster they can still afford to fit Kane in at the deadline at 75% retained (with a 3rd team involved) if Chicago takes back contracts like Leschyshyn/Hajek along with Kravtsov/Cuylle and a pick. Make Chicago surrender another pick to a 3rd team to eat another 25%.
That will never happen though unless the Blackhawks wanna do Kane a solid and send him where he really wanted to be.

Just reading the tea leaves here I’d say Kane shuts down the season to rehab and come back to Chicago late this season or simply goes for a trade in off season.
It makes sense he’d vocalize his frustrations since it wasn’t a surprise and he had to know injuries were going to impact his options.

Chicago made a huge mistake not trading him over last summer when they could have gotten a pretty good return. Now he’s injured and they won’t be able to get close to his worth if healthy. Kane wanting to go to the Rangers was the worst kept secret in sports. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go on LTIR so he can pick his spot for next season.
