Knew it, Ducks will probably trade his rights beforehand

For those who don’t know, both Minty and Zellweger are both lhd. Maybe Thrun saw the writing on the wall?

At least he let the Ducks know 6 months in advance that he didn’t want to play here. I respect that way more than the bullshit Justin Schultz pulled.

  3. The_G_89

So Thrun is out but LaCombe is in. Sucks, but I’ll take it. It could be worse.

Henry Thrun (born March 12, 2001) is an American college ice hockey defenceman for Harvard University. He was drafted in the fourth round, 101st overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. – Wikipedia

  5. That’s a bummer of the two (thrun/lacombe) I think Thurn was the better prospect; but the flip side of that coin is he hopefully will get some kind of return for his rights to be traded away.

Meh, 4th rounder. It would be few years before he’ll be ready for the NHL, if he makes it. Maybe we can trade his rights, good luck in minors kid.

  7. ShowYourHands

It really transpired that from his last interview. Well, it sucks, but hopefully we can package him with another asset for a nice player back.

At least he let us know before the deadline

  8. Unsound_Science

Oh well. Would be interesting to know why he made that decision and if it’s an organisational issue they can address going forward, or if he just would rather play elsewhere as Fox did.

To be fair, smart move by him seeing the logjam on D in front of him. He figures he’ll probably have a better chance of making it to the NHL on another team than anything.

    Zellweger | Mintyukov | Helleson | LaCombe | Hinds | Luneau | Warren

At least he make his decision before the trade deadline which might give Verbeek a chance to at least get something for him.

LaCombe is a better prospect than this clown. Besides he’s backseat to Minty, Warren, Hinds. So it’s whatever

  11. ThoseProse

Eh I don’t think he deserves boos. It was only a 4th round pick.

  12. Filmexec21

I agree fuck Schultz but he ultimately got the last laugh by winning two cups with Pittsburgh. If Anaheim had reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017 and had beaten Pittsburgh that would have been fun.

So this thread forced me to look into Elite Prospects rankings of our prospects.

Vyacheslav Buteyets seems to be doing decently in the second league in Russia.

Tristan Luneau also seems to be doing well, especially in +/-, but not far behind Zellweger and Minty in overall performance. he isn’t talked about much because he is RHD, but looking good.

Hockey Prospecting is very high on him, this isnt nothing like some people here are stating. This is a loss and this sucks. It’s ok to admit that.

  15. DickDowning

I’m curious how our development guys feel. Those who spend hours with him mentoring, watching video, and trying to help him only to be rejected. “Thanks for the 4 years of help but I’m going to a big market team or my childhood team.”

    Fuck this entitled guy.

Imagine if more players did this…. Bedard refusing to play for an American team? It would get ridiculous.

  16. listinglight778

Alright, we have our new J Schultz

  17. DBacon1052

Kid got a 4 year Harvard education and gets to pick who he wants to play for in the NHL after a strong Senior year in the NCAA. It sucks, but I get it.

At the end of the day he was a 4th round pick. I imagine teams probably got the feeling this was his plan from the beginning.

Apparently he grew up a Rangers fan, so he’ll probably follow the footsteps of Adam Fox and sign there. Carolina was able to get a 2nd for Fox. Hopefully we can get something for Thrun.

  18. Saw that coming. Harvard players are kinda notorious for that. (It’s hard to match Harvard with ‘notorious », but here we go)
