Well deserved call up.
Please preseason god Wolanin, don’t fuck up the tank if we have to play you.
Wolanin has 55pts (6G-49A) in 49 games this season in Abby. Also has 10pts in the last 10 games.
Wolanin has been an absolute stud all season (playing better than Rathbone did in the AHL last season) and had possibly his best game of the year on Wednesday.
He’s older (27) but mainly due to injuries has barely played any hockey since his first season turning pro (less than 80 games in total before this season).
Obviously a huge longshot, but if you ever wanted to root for a guy that deserves it, here he is.

I knew his dad was a former NHL’er (3rd overall pick in 1985 who played almost 700 NHL games)…
…but I had no idea his uncle, Chris, was a former Canucks draft pick (#212 overall in 1988; didn’t make it to the NHL).

This is the worst timeline… We have a stud like Kuzmenko and a good defensive prospect like Wolanin, both past their mid 20s during a time period where we’re nowhere near competing, let alone making the playoffs.
Man, you feel for Dermott. Poor guy just cant catch a break.

I thought Wolanin earned a roster spot based on his play in training camp. I never understand why he was sent down. Deemed too old to invest in maybe?
He’s managed to play in 11 of 55 (20%) of our games this season so far; what a shit season for that poor guy. I hope he gets back to consistently healthy!
I’m a big Wolanin fan. I wish he was just a few years younger to fit in with our rebuild.
