From bultman when Walman asked about his xGA

I asked Walman about this stat today. His response: « I think it’s time to start putting respect on people’s names.

I’d feel cornered if I were Yzerman in these contract negotiations. With Walman’s xGritty/60 so high right now, the ball is in his court.

Were going to get an onslaught of signings. I believe!

    Mr. Yzerman,

    Pay. This. Man.

    Fuck yeah we are Walman

Edit: I do think he stays 100%. I read an athletic article that mentioned him and how he was looking for a team to give him a chance. Well, we gave him that chance and it’s paid off for both parties quite well. No doubt le loves being a Red Wing and playing under Yzerman, the guy who gave him that chance.

Fuck yes this makes me feel good. Seems he wants to stay and dear lord i hope that means it gets done

I absolutely love his skating, and he is surprisingly pretty physical. Not afraid to fight or mix it up if needed too. And he’s not small by any means. I legit think Walman could be a piece we have long term for 5 years. He’s only 27 and dmen usually age gracefully. I’d love a left core of him, edvinsson and wallinder. We could move a different LD to right side for our bottom pair if we wanted, but hopefully Anton Johansson continues on his trajectory and gets better next year. I personally would use Albert (the other Johansson) in a trade but that’s just me.

Between what the Wings and Lions have done, it’s so much fun having a organization that players WANT to be apart of and not one that you have talent that can’t wait to leave and thrive elsewhere. Lalonde and Campbell have the boldness and charisma to win players over and get them to buy in, Yzerman and Holmes have the ability to see talent in reclamation projects and identify good prospects that they can build with and if need be find depth to replace them. Fun days are ahead

Please stay Jake, such a valuable piece of this team.

Gotta love the feeling that players are starting to enjoy playing here. Can be tough to find players willing to go through a rebuild so it’s good to see that. Especially from a player who’s performing like Walman.

Walman is a Wing. A foundational Wing. He will end his career a Wing.

  13. Wrath_Of_Aguirre

Sounds like he loves it here and may sign whatever fair offer Steve puts under his nose.

  14. dkyguy1995

You know things are good when even the players trust in the Yzerplan

I was a little iffy when I saw a dude wearing #96. I felt like that number belonged to Homer and anyone wearing it would have to earn it. I think he’s earned it this season and I’m stoked to see him wear that number for a long time.

You would think that signing the guy that *finally* gels with your soon to be, basically already is, star defense-man would be the bonehead easy play but I guess we’ll see what happens.

Would be nice to ink him to deal. He and Mo compliment each other extremely well. I remember Lidstrom being paired with Ian White for a season and White putting up over 30 points. Great d-men can make others look and play better.

  18. TwiggyStarburst

So I’ll be the one to ask. How much would you want to pay him and for how long? I think 3×3.5would be good.

  19. Wakattack00

Jake Walman is a must sign. His analytics are off the charts and his chemistry with Seider is even more valuable. I would legit give him a 5-6 year deal and just be done with it. He could end up being one of the better contracts in the league on a long term deal.

  20. LiteratureOk1869

I would like to see Walman on the power play.

    >…**leave that to Yzerman.**
    >
    > **I think we’re building something here.**

Hard agree Jakey boy, hard agree.

  22. jfstompers

Maybe if we signed a few guys we’d be building right now we’re just trying to be happy and block it out
