Thought we’d get pasted last night and have a regression game. We lost but that was a progression game.
I continued coding on my shot map and [this](https://imgur.com/a/BZ0Nzh4) is the current iteration (Shotmap against the Lightning). [Previous post](https://old.reddit.com/r/DetroitRedWings/comments/119w35a/game_thread_new_york_rangers_33159_at_detroit_red/j9p8qui/). The main difference is, that I now show all shots on one goal, rather than showing the entire ice. I mirror all shots from the 2nd (and OT) to the other goal. I think it adds more context (a shot from the own D-zone vs a prime shot from the slot) and allows for better aggregation. Additionally, I fixed some minor bugs (y coordinates were mirrored, blocked shots were shots that DET blocked rather than DET shots that opponent blocked). I did experiment a bit with different shapes, but didn’t like how they looked (too crowded). I’d love to hear you guys’ thoughts on the shot maps, any and all feedback & ideas are appreciated.
I was thinking that creating an aggregate card for each game would be pretty fun. That’d include the shot maps, some advanced counting stats (Corsi, Fenwick and the likes) and lastly an xGoals overview both aggregate and for every player. Is that something you guys would like to see? Any further ideas?

Sad update this time, every game went against us. Proud of our performance against Tampa, but Vasilevskiy is who he is. If we keep playing like that, we will have a great chance to make the playoffs. Getting 2/4 points from the Rangers and Lightning is alright in my book.
The least Tampa can do after screwing us out of a deserved win last night is to beat Pittsburgh today. I’m rooting for Washington against Buffalo, I think the Sabres are a bigger threat to us. Go Jets.
I think it’s crucial that we sweep Ottawa, especially because we’re now on the outside looking in again in both points and points percentage.

It personally feels so good to be in late February and not know dick all about any draft eligible prospects from this year out of the top 5 or so. Normally by this time of year I’m at least familiar with the top 20 or so.
So are we really not making any moves?

Man, last night just goes to show what a truly elite superstar can do for your team when they turn it on. Seems like everyone has at least 2 on their roster besides us. We played amazing and win that game against any other goalie, that was a pure « best in the world » showing.
The Griffins have been playing Edvinsson with Johansson lately and it’s really making a difference. Talented players need talented players around them to really do well.

I never played hockey, and this could be easier said then done, but it seemed like we weren’t shooting over pad level last night. He was amazing with anything at the 2 ,4,5 holes. No chances seemed to be at the 1,3,6 or 7. Again, I could be off base but it seems like Vas is a killer with his pads.
