Defense is not the problem. The defensive output from forwards is the problem. We basically have 3 guys doing a great job back there (Cirelli, Hagel, Point). The others are not just doing nothing, they are so bad it feels like they are playing against us. With people like Kucherov and Stamkos it’s understandable, it’s not their job (still have to make at least some effort), but if I’m gonna hear one more positive word about our 4th line (Perry too, but at least his role is actually understandable) and how OH BUT THEY HAVE GRIT, THEY ARE TOUGH YOU KNOW THEY GET THE PUCK IN DEEP THEY PLAY HARD ALSO MAROON IS A HUGE PRESENCE IN THE LOCKER ROOM, I’m gonna fucking burn. I don’t care how true these things are, Namestnikov is not a Lightning level player, Maroon and Bellemare are not NHL level players. Not anymore. Move on.
Hopefully Jeannot rumour is true and we ain’t giving up someone valuable. Trading for Jeannot, probably Lafferty or Barabanov, bringing Balcers up should be number one priority right now. Our bottom-6 is a pathetic tragedy and it shouldn’t be this way.

forget about dmen upgrades. the guy that really needs to start playing better defensively isn’t going anywhere.
kinda curious about which forwards they’re targeting. i saw the jeannot rumor. idk how good defensively he is, just that he’s a major physical presence with the occasional goal
