Actuellement, la meilleure équipe de l’Ouest (Golden Knights, 76 points) serait une équipe joker si elle était à l’Est

Yet the west are the current cup holders…

  2. ZeroOptionLightning

One of two scenarios at play here: A, the west is weak AF. B, more parity top to bottom (common opponents) in West vs East. All kidding aside, it’s probably a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B???

The West has won more cups than the East in I think both the past 10 years & the past 20 even if you get rid of repeats. It’s not a regular season kind of conference.

Edit: Someone remind me if the Rangers won a cup recently. Could’ve sworn they did. Think Wikipedia might have some wrong information.

Is anyone else sick of seeing basically this same post every day?

  5. every1pees

The east has fewer quality teams. Just a few juggernauts

  6. JC_5_er

The two wildcard teams in the east would be out of the playoffs in the west. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  7. n-i-x-k

That’s not actually the standings… gotta look on the actual NHL website

  8. LT568690

Well it could be worse. They could be Montreal right now. Ouch.

And yet because hockey is a screwy sport sometimes, I almost want to predict that a Western team will win the Cup final (and if it’s Colorado would any of us even be surprised?). The East playoffs are going to be an absolute bloodbath.

Every day I see a post about how the Eastern Conference is stronger. Why? Any particular reason, combination of reasons, luck?

If my grandma had wheels, she’d be a bike

  12. dragondont

Devils had bad season after bad season its about time

  13. CultFuse

Instead of antagonizing you, I got an idea. Do you think it would be cool if all the teams that didn’t make the playoffs had their own « Loser » cup? Eastern conference teams would probably win it more often than not.

That or they should do a lottery to decide who the teams that make the playoffs will play. No East vs West anymore.

  14. shittybillz

Wow! Has anyone else ever brought this to our attention before?? First I’m hearing of this!

  15. Educational-Emu-7532

It’s like they play in different Conferences or something weird.

  16. Level_Watercress1153

What’s crazy is the Cup is probably going to be won out of the West. The East is just going to beat itself to death and whoever comes out of the West which honestly is probably Colorado. If they can get to 100% health they’ll be a scary team. Hell they’re already a very good team and they’re missing Cale and Landeskog

  17. DangleWho

Can we go back to the west please?

  18. Cinnamon_Art

I remember when it was the other way around

  19. Rendole66

Ok but if we do 1-16 in league standings and playoffs started today we would have 8 teams from west and 8 teams from the east get in.

  20. TemperatureTrue4254

If people were the size of mice than chickens would look like dinosaurs.

  21. _redacteduser

Boston will be out in the first round so who cares

  22. Melody412

The west is much more balanced, the east has 4 dominant teams

  23. corduroy_pillows

    Please post again tomorrow too

  24. Yes. However, you must consider this fact: the Golden Knights are not in the east.

  25. DracoFire3002

The West has the Central division, where four teams are within 3 points of first place, and the Pacific division, which has 4 teams within 4 points of first place, rounding out the 8 playoff teams. By comparison, the East has the Atlantic, where there is a twelve point gap between 3rd and 4th place, and the Metro, where there’s an 8 point gap. More disparity just means the top teams in the East are « more better » than their conference than the top teams in the West are. I would say the conferences as a whole are roughly equal this year. The Stars, Wild, Avs, Jets, Knights, Kings, Oilers, Kraken, Bruins, Leafs, Bolts, Sabres, Canes, Devils, Rangers, and Islanders are all phenomenal teams and I could see any of them winning the Cup if a few things go their way, though we’ll have to see what the trade deadline brings.

Yes, I did say it, and I won’t apologize for it.

  26. hanigwer

Ya’all keep giving the lotto tickets to the east…. What do you expect?

  27. MidgetXplosion

All this shows is the west is more competitive with each other. East is just more lopsided. Nothing more.

  28. ResponsibleSouthPark

I’d take an uninjured Avalanche team over the Bruins.

  29. alindiakos

Yea dont bring it up by proposing that because like 7 of the top 10 teams by points are in the east that the playoffs should be an open bracket lol. I made a post about it and no one liked it lol

  30. Specialist-Idea-5396

It does show how weak the west is compared to the stacked hellhole east.

  31. Top-Vegetable3736

Just better hope Anaheim doesn’t get bedard. Just imagine the talent that team is gonna have with bedard, zegras, mactavish, terry, and Gibson. So much talent it’s scary.

  32. SaltyVirginAsshole

The NHL east is like the CFL west

  33. Jasonforeman311

This sport should eliminate conferences. Top 16 are in playoffs.
