Out of the Wilderness – Sabres contre Hurricanes, ECF 2006

1. 1U.K hockey fan, been an Avs fan since 01, this was the first hockey series I ever got to see, it was phenomenal and I was hyped for the Canes to win the cup.

Still an Avs fan and fuck me last year was gooooood because it was the first time I'd ever seen us win it, but this cup win and this series still occupies my mind because holy hell what a way to see an actual hockey game for the first time lol

  2. Either team out of the east was gunna win that cup. Really sucks it wasn't the Sabres 😐

  3. i was at game 2 as a sabres fan in Carolina. where we lost, i remember walking to the car and some carolina fan pushed some, and i turned around to punch him be he had like a 4 year old kid on his shoulders so i i didn’t because i didn’t want her to fall

  4. do they still call the “tripping
AND diving” calls at the same time anymore in 2023?

  5. I love the calls by doc but a couple Rick Jeannerette mixed in would be cool…. just a couple for nostalgia sake!

  6. Such an awesome video. I was 10 when the Canes won the cup, so being able to relive this series was incredible. Thank you for your hard work!

  7. Ah the pain. The fastest Sabres team I ever saw. And the smallest Stanley cup parade in history. God I hated the canes and their 10 fans.

  8. Pls pls pls do one of these on the 2016 Blues/Hawks series. It was such a great series. I know you can do it justice

  9. I live in NC and may I say games in Raleigh are electric went to the Stadium Series last week and there was an amazing atmosphere

  10. This playoff series was what makes hockey special. It’s a different breed of hockey now for better and worse. This series got me to love the sport.

  11. 40:00 – I think the 4 injured defenseman separated these two teams.
As a Buffalo sports fan, this loss hurt pretty bad. There is no doubt in my mind that they would have won if they had even two of the D men that missed game 7, and then the Final against the 8 seed Oilers would have have gone as well if not better than it had gone for Carolina.

  12. You can tell this is old because the Carolina power play scored in the playoffs

  13. Man if it weren’t for all those defensive injuries buffalo would’ve won this series and wiped the floor with Edmonton in the finals. Great series, hope they do this again sometime soon. #letsgobuffalo

  14. Hurricanes fan here. Both teams knew whoever won the series would win the cup. The Hurricanes were super stacked and had Rod the Bod at the helm. I love to hate the Sabres, mainly because of this series. This was truly two of the best teams for both franchises. Phenomenal hockey.

  15. I love the atmosphere in PNC – the involvement of the crowd and overall brutish yet sleek and skillful vibe of hockey made me fall in love with the game and the Loudest House In the NHL only amplifies that.

  16. Really fantastic woork dude. Would love to see that 2014 Rangers-Penguins series with Marty St. Louis mother

  17. Loved this, i will say from a canes fan standpoint you left out quite a bit and that was definately a nasty series. Still i love the concept and the fact you choose to cover it

  18. Definitely need to do Washington vs Tampa Bay in the ECF (2018) in the Caps Cup run. That was a phenomenal series!!!!!

  19. This EC finals and the the Stanley Cup for the Hurricanes changed Raleigh forever in 2006, and on the heels of an electric stadium series game/win, it's fun to remember how we got there.

  20. I wish Doc could’ve called this past SCF, I would’ve loved his voice calling my favorite team champions. He’s such a huge part of hockey lore
