I mean he’s not wrong. They really haven’t missed on a meaningful trade in years.

  2. ulfhednar910

This is gold. Do you have a link?

  3. TheGreatSpagett

Can they wait until after the deadline to run this piece please? Asking for a friend

I’m just impressed they didn’t say Joe was still the GM

Too late, Chicago just lost Jack « Stanley Cup Winner » Jonhson!

  7. prettylittlelondon

This made me laugh so hard. It’s so true!

  8. DevourerJay

I laughed at work, scared people… but no, don’t listen to that, the Avs don’t know what they’re doing, I’d they call just agree! They’ll help you

The most important sentence is “Their analytics department is too shrewd“. It was not always a steal during the trade but those trades became more and more a steal with each and every day the players were standing on the ice because they are fitting so well in our system and they grew quickly into their roles.
Nobody expected Tazer to become a Top10 D man. Not too many expected Lehkonen to be the top 6 plug and play solution he is today. And at least I didn‘t expect Manson to adapt so smoothly to our smart, speedy and clean game.
So, we didn‘t steal diamonds but we gave them at least the final polish.

If I had anything of value to the Avs, I would gladly trade it for a puck signed by Sakic. Sadly, I am just a plebe with nothing to trade.

  11. Rads324

That puck is worth some extra scratch though!

  12. detached03

I would love a bag of Avalanche marbles and an autographed puck.

I read this to a friend who isn’t even a hockey fan, she is still still laughing.

This franchise and fleecing folks in trades, name a more iconic duo

Greg Wyshynski is one of my favorite writers. He gets hate but I’ve always liked his stuff

It feels nice to be able to trust everything this team does without questioning it. I don’t have this luxury with the teams I support in other sports.

  17. willowmtn

I read this at work and laughed. What I hope happens is that when CMac makes his deal at the deadline they include some marbles and a signed Sakic puck just for shits and giggles. 😜

  18. EmperorXerro

Sakic and Yzerman are the two GM’s that if you talk to them, you’re going to pay a lot for a muffler.

  19. throwaway19876430

New rule – if the Avs inexplicably express interest in one of your players hold on for dear life!

  20. OhmyGhaul

Hahaha oh man this made my day. There’s not enough talk about the Avs trade thievery. This pretty much nails it.

  21. vbcbandr

To be fair: I imagine most people would be enticed by a Sakic signed puck. Who could blame them?

  22. CarelessLevel6502

    Sounds correct to me.

Oh, he was being ironic ?

  23. SlowJamz89

Aka we got Byram. Girard is a straight up liability

  24. StrikingVariation199

Can you imagine a player getting a call from CM or JS stating interest – You know you’re in an elite league when they call you. Just awesome! It’s clear that the longstanding and elite guidance has clearly been passed down from the great Pierre Lacroix (RIP).
