Wow that was an insane ending. All of you guys are spitting some real shit rn. What a stressful loss though

  2. junkyardpig

Is it just me or is Adam Hill the most boring hockey name ever. Great game by him though

  3. chris_banana

It seems so long ago but there was a time where we were unstoppable in the shootouts. I think it was 2012 where they won like 12 shootouts and kovy/parise were just automatic

  4. septimus29

Dawson had TEN shots tonight. Kids red hot

I would have liked to see a lot more Dougie in OT. feel like I didn’t see him out there after the first 90 seconds

  5. TronVin

When a shootout happens, almost always I’ve seen the lesser team win. Just play it out 3v3 or at least extend the OT to 12 to 15 minutes. Half of the OTs are spent cycling the puck.

  6. youres0lastsummer

I hate that the second we go into a shootout I assume we’re losing. This is how Dallas fans feel when it goes to OT

  7. RakimWebster

I’m just going to say it. Sharongovich isn’t what we want him to be. He got benched in the third has done absolutely nothing on a line with jack and jesper. Offensively, he just seems like a non factor

  8. jerzyrailz

picking dougie over jack in a shootout is a war crime

  9. flat_footed_gringo

GUYS i watched this game stoned… They looked fucking beautiful out there. Totally robbed of that win.

  10. connaire

God spelt backward is Dog. Both are synonyms of Dawson Mercer.

    * Honestly, Hill totally earned that win for Vegas. I’m not crazy mad about it.
    * I’m glad we got the point.
    * I’m also glad our offensive game AND our defensive game is looking so much better than it did in January.
    * Vegas has been rolling since the All Star Break and they were going to be a tough opponent and we honestly had them for most of the game.
    * Jack looked the best he’s looked since coming back from injury tonight, and I’m thinking a game against Arizona is exactly what the doctor ordered to get him his goal scoring prowess back.
    * We got a PP goal, our PK looked solid. Our defense looked back to November levels for most of the game, minus like a few hiccups.
    * Akira had a good game. Mercer kept his streak. Loved to see Boqy out there in OT.
    * We’re two points behind Carolina, and seven points ahead of the Rags and the Rags are facing Boston tomorrow.
    * No Pacific team can beat us in regulation. And we’ve won every game against the Pacific except for two OT losses. That is an insane fucking stat.
    * March is going to be fucking hard. We’ll have a few reprieves in the schedule, but mostly its going to be a fight after a fight after a fight. So good to see how relentless and resilient this team is.
    * …*Timo is on his way*.
    * ***ABOLISH THE SHOOTOUT***, THO.

Hmph. 86 is a better point total than 87, anyway. I didn’t want it.

  13. ilovehenrique14

Ullmark the other night saved 2.7 goals above expected which was remarkable. Hill saved 3.7!!! above expected tonight. Have to imagine that’s one of the highest single games of the season. Got absolutely fucking goalied so fucking hard. So annoying. Would be nice to be on the other end of those

  14. maqdiaf

That Adin Hill fellow is so talented. Can’t even be mad…

  15. game_escape

Shut down goal tending is something we lack. I know Vitek is a fan favorite, but he isn’t a guy who can rise to the level of what we saw tonight from the Vegas goalie. Sure, tonight was an anomoly, but the contrast was clear.

  16. HopelessEsq

The fucking shootout needs to be removed from the game. It’s such fucking bullshit. It was one thing when we sucked and were going to lose them anyway, but now that we’re playing meaningful games in March finally it’s such a fucking pain in the ass while teams are trying to seed their playoff positions. For fucks sake they don’t settle basketball games with slam dunk competitions, they have the all star game for this fucking shit. It’s really really fucking irritating.

  17. Soco_Amaretto_Lime

Alot of frustration and negativity in the comments. We have the luxury of leaving 1pt on the board and still being happy with our play. Hill stood on his head, but Schmid came up huge despite not being tested as much. Penalty Shot was a big turning point, props to Akira.

Another really impressive performance from our stars. Boqvist really impressed me tonight. Got rewarded with some OT time, think he had a shift with Hughes/Bratt near the end of the 3rd too. Mercer is just a dawg. It’s not just the goals. He is so good along the boards and his puck control is a treat to watch. Meier would’ve had a goal tonight. Bahl’s improved so much since the start of the year.

Palat and Haula need to be better. As much as many want to see Wood scratched, it will probably be Bastian when Meier is ready.

  18. Stupid non-Canadian, non-California pacific teams ruining our perfection

  19. iamdazed

call penalties in ot (and penalty shots) and end the fucking shootout

  20. septimus29

We just put up nearly 50 shots against the best team in the West

I know im beating it to death and we’re all excited, but that was without a player who’s 4th in the league in Shots/Game and 14th in goals/game

We’re going to be so friggin good next week on

  21. Nodor10

That stings. Ran into a hot goalie I guess

  22. rlxdengineer

We are a good team. Like fucking deep run good. Not getting the 2 point this game doesn’t change that. This is all without TIMO and Hughes being a little MIA during his shifts.

  23. BFT9000

Moneypuck has the Devils winning 92% of the time. Devils had 7.4 expected goals for, meaning Hill ended up with 4.4 goals saved above expected.

We got fuckin goalied. What a game.

  24. ilovehenrique14

It doesn’t make sense to me how also whenever a team is getting goalied it seems like the other team is able to score more than expected on a very limited number of chances. It’s almost always that way i feel. Like, nothing against Akira tonight, but why can’t we get goalied and still also win 3-2 because VGK doesn’t convert 3 times on the way less number of chances they had. I mean this in a general sense and don’t think our goaltending was the reason for the loss tonight.

  25. Internetter1

Annoying, but will take the point. Team just dominated the two best teams in the West. Can’t ask for much more than that.

  26. njkid30

I have no idea why, but I hate the Knights. Same with the Minnesota Vikings.

Anyway would be curious to know which team has gotten goalied the most this year.

  27. simplycycling

Ah well, we got goalied. It happens. Move on, and take the two free points from Arizona.

  28. klitchell

Was at the game, was Shango benched in the third?

  29. SmokeyMiata

I think a take away is that Vegas really clogged up the middle in the second half of the game and we still had many chances and almost won despite being goalied. I’ll take the point.

  30. PhotographNo3533

Hills an absolute dog. nastiest tend in the west

  31. diecast32

Yes, did the Devils lose in a shootout (not a real way to lose)? Did Adin Hill play an insane game? (drug test) Overall, the Devils are an legit contender to win the cup and I am so excited.

  32. MorsusMihi

We got hilled. I watched most of the game and we’re good. Honestly still feeling proud of the game for the boys. The OT was great effort and everything. Sometimes a goalie has such a game and that’s fine.

A point in Vegas is a point in Vegas, they beat Caroline before this one.

    Good stuff!

  33. SundayJeffrey

We got a point on the road against a solid team with our third string goalie. We should be happy.

  34. worryie

anyone else find it kind of funny that we couldve had a third straight 7 goal game but we just had to face prime brodeur

  35. BobFulci

While I doubt it, I hope that in the next couple of seasons, they revisit the shootout. It’s a garbage way to end a game, and the novelty has long since worn off for me. The more I see, the more unfair it seems. As I have said before, I support the Matthews/McDavid suggestion, to extend overtime to 10 minutes. If there is still no winner, we arm wrestle! Heheee. No, we just have 1-point per team, and it’s a *draw*…
