Well we got our 4th back from the Hronek trade.
Better than nothing. Doubt we would have tried hard to keep him as a UFA this offseason. He can kill penalties but doesn’t bring much else and should be easily replaced

Obviously with the 2 blowouts in Ottawa Red Wings gave up hope of making the playoffs and chose instead to focus on team dentistry and becoming more photogenic as a team – thus the trades for Bert and Sunny

We need a first overall generational talent player to build around. This season feels like another setback finishing lower middle of the pack.
Would love to re sign sunny if that’s possible. Great right handed bottom-sixer. Versatile player.
Good trade. Loved Sunny but always had a feeling he was on the verge of getting injured.
Sunny is a great pro and someone who will do well in the playoffs. I only wish he could have done it wearing our sweater 🙁

Sundqvist was a fine 4th line guy but I didn’t get attached to him. Now I just wonder what our lineup will be to finish the season.
I guess he can be replaced via free agency. Or maybe we re-sign Erne. I don’t see a lot of scoring forward prospects other than Sodastream to be on the team next year- unless we fast-track Kasper to the big team after training camp. As it is right now we are four forwards down ion the big team right now. (Ras=hurt, Bert, Vrana and Sunny= gone). It would be great if guys like Veleno and Zadina can step it up and score some goals.
So, in exchange for pick #52 in the 2021 draft (which we held from Edmonton for AA), we got Leddy, who we traded for Walman, what should be a higher 2nd in 2023, and a 4th. That ain’t bad asset management.

Can’t really pretend to care about 4th round picks at this point and I liked Sunny here. It is what it is. Big positive: it opens up a roster spot for Söderblom.
