  1. so we should rebuild => Petterson left => rebuild => Hughes left => rebuild x 10 more year right ? are you enjoy team like Chicago / Arizona , which have nothing but draft pick ?

Look at what Colorado did in 2017, they are last team in that year, did they trade all McKinnon , Rantanen, Landeskog, Girard and Johnson for draft pick ?

  2. I wish there was a rebuilding team doing a good job with good broadcasters so I can ditch this franchise for good 😂 John Shorthouse and Garrett are one of the few reasons im still even around since the majority of the leagues broadcasters are god awful

  3. "make the playoffs, next year (soon)" = worst strategy that guarantees middling results, forever
*first of all "making the playoffs" should never be a team's objective > "winning the cup !" should be the objective, & to do that you have to suck for several years in a row, do a serious rebuild, probably get at least one 1st overall pick/generational talent to build the team around, & be patient/disciplined enough to stick to your long-term plan (Trevor Linden knew all of this & wanted to seriously do it…so they fired him)

  4. Even if they do make the playoffs, that shouldn’t be the goal. That’s the goal of an expansion team. The goal should always be the Stanley Cup. There should be a 4 or 5 year plan where at the end you should at least be in the Conference Finals threatening to make the Cup Finals. But when playoffs are everything, you’re not a serious franchise. Steve Yzerman traded away a good top 4 defenseman who is a top 2 on this team. He’s not concerned with playoffs. He’s stocked with young players and when those guys are all ready to go, he’ll have the cap space to add an elite player who will put the Wings over the top. That’s how you build a team. We’ve done that for 10 years, and made the playoffs once by a total fluke. This isn’t working. The fans, the smart ones, are on board with a rebuild and have been since 2013.

  5. This is most likely going to be another 5+ years of abysmal management and leadership from the Aquilini group, once again. A shame. I miss Brian Burke.

  6. Okay, let's have a serious talk. The Journalism around the canucks is the most redundant, toxic nonsense that everybody is focusing on. The difference between this retooling compared to the Benning era, is that Alvin and Rutherford have strengths and negotiating skills and have actually acquired some very good acquisitions in roster players, took chances on some that didnt work and then dealt them away, like Stillman. If there's no interest in players like Garland and Boeser, what can you do? give them a couple more years to let the vision come to fruition. These guys know what they're doing. They are the pro's not you guys.

  7. Conor Garland sucks…don't kid yourself. He plays like a 1.5 mil player

  8. The reason Vancouver wanted a center to replace Miller is optics. If they only traded Miller for picks, then they could have conceivably done that at any time and kept Horvat.

  9. ANY gm candidate that does not promise a push for the playoffs EVERY season will not get the job. Which means that the Canucks are just screwed….
There has been one constant during these past 10 years. AQUILINI!

  10. Its a very unrealistic thing to believe

Positivity will only get you so far

Just barely squeeking into the playoffs is just a money grab for management

  11. Damn, we didn't make the playoffs. We're all in for next year though. Our optimism should be enough.

  12. we're going to make the playoffs next year? i'm so happy for aquilini. he'll get his coveted 2 home game 4 game playoff run. they obviously don't give the vancouver fan base any credit for having even the slightest notion of what this team is.

  13. Alvin and the chipmonks are a bunch of goofs including the owners (Playoff team) lol they will be at the bottom of the pacifc / the other teams are getting better to doofess
L A – Sea – Veg -Cal-Edm alvin thinks they make playoffs hell no get ur head outta your youknow what lol

  14. He never really committed to the Canucks being in the playoffs next year. Thats fake news. He said his expectations is to make the playoffs every year. He never fully committed an answer to Drance’s question.

  15. I gave Allvin the benefit of the doubt but after listening to his press conference, it's clear that the owner is pressuring them to make the playoffs.

The asset management is horrible. They basically over valued their players and in doing so weakened their value on the open market. Everyone knows the team needs cap space but their unwillingness to move players for picks is mind boggling. Contenders build teams thru the draft. They use their ELC to help their salary cap.

This is where the Canucks will continually fail. They want players that can play now but have zero $ to do so.

Detroit is a perfect example on how to do it right. Yzerman wants to win a cup where Allvin wants to make the playoffs. Yzerman just moved assets to get draft picks. He sold high and has the ability to either use those picks or trade them for other assets. The Canucks basically have a bunch of used cars that are depreciating.

    The future remains bleak

  16. What Canucks management is trying to do is correct, but the execution is redundant, the Devils got John Marino at 25 for a third, Siegenthaler at 25 for a third and graves at 25 for a second, why ? Because they traded with playoff established teams not teams trying to re build, of course Detroit would ask for a 1st, management took blood from youre left arm to inject into youre right, they fixed one problem by causing another.

  17. Yep they going to be to a Mediocre next season at best they'll make it to the playoffs most likely get gentlemen sweep in the first round.

  18. I believe Aquillini's have a major part to do with this that no one seems to be discussing. Trevor Linden was fired because he wanted to rebuild the team with draft picks and ownership said we need to retool on the fly. Fast forward 2022 and it looks like its going into the direction of rebuilding with high draft picks etc and now go into 2023 and its a about face and now were retooling on the fly. I think everyone is baffled by what has happened in the last week because its coming from above management. Management has to take the brunt of ownerships love of thinking they know best. Ever since Aquillini's took out Gagliardi from owning the Canucks and Gagliardi went and purchased Dallas Stars I think Francesco can't handle that Dallas is doing much better than the Canucks and have been a better team for years. If you want to voice your displeasure with the Canucks don't renew your season tickets. At the end its all about the cash and if you hit them where it hurts maybe they start listening to the fans and stop this ever ending retooling on the fly. The Canucks are turning into the laughing stock of the other GM's in the league.

  19. No playoffs till 2028 until Benning core removed period one playoffs in Decades Dream on playoffs the cap Dollars needs to improved I lost fate already

  20. I feel like we could make the playoffs next year, but I can't see us actually being a playoff team and actually doing well in the playoffs. Unless we get bedard

  21. Sad to see you going back to boring ea nhl gameplay. Guess I won’t be subscribing 🤷🏻‍♂️

  22. Meddling Aquilini runs this team. It's why Linden resigned. Benning couldn't do the job.

Remember, Rutherford said in a press conference he has to manage up. Under these
circumstances, this is what they just did.

    Canucks got Philip Hronek
    Anthony Beauvillier
    Vitaly Kravtsov
    Aatu Raty
    Josh Bloom
    Detroit's 23-4th rd
    Devil's 24-4th rd

    Assets the Canucks gave up.

Bo Horvat, their 23-2nd round pick & 26-7th rd pick. That's it.

Non valuable asset's also given up, Stillman, Lazar & Lockwood.

  23. What team did the Canucks refuse a trade with because of no centre being offered? Alvin said no team made any offer whatsoever. If you advocate a full rebuild then trade Pettersen, Hughes and Demko. It will take 5 years but it is a plan. Otherwise stop being upset over imaginary trades that never were offered.

  24. If we do squeeze in on a wildcard after trading our 1st next year for a 30 yr old veteran. Nucks need to raise a 'made the playoffs' banner. It's what ownership deserves

  25. Well let’s see what happens in October and what thus roster looks like
