I haven't even watched this regular season because I do not trust the goaltending.. I'm not wasting all that time for one of them to choke when it counts.. I'll watch the playoffs but I'm not expecting much.. Samsonov vs Vasi? Yikes

Samsonov for Campbell straight across…Toronto has a wildly unbalanced roster with far to much skill and finesse and very little true chemistry and they do not have an NHL level System of play to rely upon, Dubas is a pretender . If someone promoted Shanny to just get him away from the blowback then 86ed Dubas and Keefe then brought in a Seasoned experienced GM and Head Coach and simply let them pick up the pieces of the Dubas Debacle and then straighten things out we might see another level to Mathews game…but 2/3 of Torontos Roster would have to be turned over ASAP. Pick 3 players not named Marner to surround Mathews as a Core and start the Auction. This likely brings a trip to the Finals within 2 years. How many Oilers from last years Stanley Cup 1/4 Finals were on the Oilers Team in 2012?Just the Vampire who doesnt age Nugent-Hopkins.Toronto needs to pick their 4 CORE PLAYERS one being a Goalie then purge everything while values are high and do a total reset.Toronto is in the equivilant of a long term Toxic Relationship with Shanny and Dubas and Keefe. The leafs goaltending as of now on paper look decent I agree it’s a concern but look at Carolina look at the teams below them if Matt Murray comes back it shouldn’t be that much of a concern considering where the leafs are in the standings
We all knew that Samsonov And a Murray Would split duties Would not right either of these guys 60 games this season which is why we have both of them so what’s the problem

When the Leafs run around, Samsonov moves around too fast (busy feet) in net and tends to lose his positioning in the net. When he is calm , compact, positioned and square to the puck he makes the game look easy. Too much reliance on him to be the sole stopper could be a big reason for the huge contrast in performance.

Samsanov was never going to be the goalie the leafs really wanted, neither was Murray, but honestly there wasn't that much out there-Quick and Demko aren't really that much better then those guys. The leafs D is finding it's stride with all the new guys and Samsanov got hung out to dry. He did make some great saves-after the four goals lol
