Для качественного скачка верх требуется 2 фактора: 1) продолжение прогресса молодых игроков – Козенса, Далина, Пауэра, Кребса, Петерки, Самуэльсона и др., и 2) принятие офисом правильных кадровых решений в ближайшее межсезонье – надо отпускать Окпосо и постараться найти на рынке ему на смену хорошего вингера и надежного защитника. Еще бы я пригласил в тренерский штаб грамотного специалиста по защите, слишком много пропускают "клинки" – забивают они на уровне мощного Бостона и гораздо больше, чем такие славящиеся своим нападением команды как Тампа, Колорадо, Рейнджерс, Торонто. А вот в защите у них беда – на Востоке больше "клинков" пропускают только откровенно сливающие сезон Коламбус и Монреаль. Т.е. самая главная проблема – это укрепление своей обороны. Пусть даже при более надежной игре в обороне ухудшится результативность в атаке, но лучше иметь разницу шайб 211 – 181 (+30), чем нынешние 231 – 221 (+10).

It's time to just name Skinner #1 and ride him. His .948 sav % was the difference tonight. Going into tonight he had the 9th best save percentage in the league of goalies that have played 35 games or more. That makes him a #1 goalie.

When Skinner is in net the Oilers can pull off a close game and win, when Campbell is in net they give away 4 point leads and loose. It’s pretty clear who the number one goalie is. Way to go Skinner on keeping the game close while Connor and the rest of the team can get it done in the other end. 👍🏼

As a Sabres fan, this was a very entertaining game to watch. Jacob Bryson might’ve lost us this game (for context for non Sabres fans, we were missing Samuelsson, a good defensive defenseman, and Stillman, a defenseman we just traded for who looked good his first few games with us, on defense and had Clague and Bryson in), like he’s usually bad but just good lord. He had about 14 minutes of ice time and was there when all 3 Oilers goals were scored lmao. The second and third ones were particularly bad, like I think he had multiple chances to get the puck out of the zone on the second one and failed, leading to the crazy pressure + goal. McDavid and (Stuart) Skinner played great, and to any Oilers fans here I’m wishing y’all luck in the playoffs!

Hey, I am kinda new to ice hockey… could someone explain one statistic to me? how is it possible that McDavid with 124 points has only +10 +/- rating? Is it because of the playstyle Edmonton plays – they score a lot but at the same time concede a lot? I would expect him and Draisaitl to have much higher +/- with the amount of points they acquired during the season. For example Pastňák has +29 even tho he has "only" 84 points. I understand that this stat is probably useless when it comes to evaluating players' performance and at the same time it is probably heavily influenced by the play style team has, but it still seems weird to me. Thanks
