Uhh, very weird looking but possibly good? As long as kreider and mika are together

  2. Rangbang

Makes sense to split up Panarin and Mika, they are both rightys with good one-timers

  3. Human_Effort1987

Honestly not a fan of these units at all would much prefer Zib on unit 1 instead of panarin on the left side. The first unit needs more shooters, hope they prove me wrong though.

Rather see Miller over Trouba. These are two very good lines. I have reserve with our best PP foward not on L1, but it’s not like GG is hesitant to do his mid game shuffle.

I want to see Miller in front of the net on the PP.

Does this mean the lines will get more of a 50 / 50 split finally? kind of odd that the 2 players in the last 2 seasons to put up most of the PP goals are on PP2. They should be flipped around with Fox on with Zib

  6. Dig-Duglett

if laf confidence carries and he plays more aggressive, pp1 has me weirdly excited

Basically line 2 with Laf & Fox, and line 1 with Trouba and Chytil. I don’t hate it but if it doesn’t work first game, I’m anticipating it getting shaken up again. At least there’s some movement and an attempt to breathe some life into a very stale power play.

  8. blueline7677

It’s weird the top unit has like no shooters the second unit has a bunch of them.

  9. Nyrfan2017

I think gg needs to say to pan and Kane to many passing no shooting you’ll sit the bench

  10. kleefoth

Glad GG is experimenting and putting Mika on PP2. It’s not even a knack against him, it’s the fact that he can’t do what he does best on PP1, with the talent they had on the line. This will be very interesting to see, both lines are equally as deadly

  11. HelloBello30

I think they need a better playmaker on PP2, panarin, fox or kane

  12. Is GG’s only viable strategy to shuffle up the lines?

  13. PaulSach

I will reserve judgement until we see them in action, but at a glance these feel imbalanced.

Unit 1 is loaded with passers—Kane, Fox, Bread, and Laf all have a pass-first mentality

Unit 2 is loaded with shooters—Literally the entire unit, Trouba included, are finishers.

Maybe Panarin will start shooting more on the PP, but unit 1 does seem to be lacking finishers while unit 2 seems to be lacking playmakers. Unit 1, possession clinic; Unit 2, shooting gallery. Hopefully both units work out and we can get the PP back on track.

  14. KrzysLo

I see this as PP-A and PP-B where game dictates who goes out first.

  15. OrphanDad

I don’t like putting zib on the 2, guy has been crushing all season on pp1. But this is pretty balanced sans trouba lol

  16. Zer0flames

    …………..13/20……….

    10/93. 16/72. 88/91

    …………..23/8…….

    I’m good with that

  17. jkman61494

Swap Trouba and fox and make the Mika unit the top one.

Mika is one of the best powerplay scorers this year and Kreider was #1 last year. It’s dumb to make them the 2nd unit all for Kane who has been a total net negative so far.

  18. _mynameisclarence

The man really did find a way to fuck it up.

While I think it’s good to have the superstars on the ice for the PP, I didn’t think it was a good idea to have Kane (and Tarasenko when we first got him) on the lines before they had learned or practiced any of the set plays. Like, we got scored on on the PP because Kane didn’t know where he was supposed to be which led to a bad turnover. Let the guys learn the system before throwing them out there!

  20. MitchWasRight

It’s a good problem when you have 10 skaters who can easily be on any PP1. The coaching staff knows A LOT more about how these players mesh than anyone on this sub so I’ll reserve full judgement until I see them in action.

If the strategy is to tire the other team out with gut punches with PP1 and then go for the knockout with PP2, it kinda makes sense.

  21. MitchWasRight

Just want to add that now is the time to experiment.

  22. So our two leading power play goal scorers for the past couple of years are both playing on pp2…

  23. agent7300

not waht i would do honestly i would prefer to load up.

    Tarasenko – Zibanejad – Kane

    Panarin – Fox

  24. DrFrocktopus

Idk about these particular setups but imo a shakeup was long overdue. They should have been looking to run 2 balanced units when the PP rut started. The overreliance on 1 unit was a relic of the rebuild when there wasnt enough talent to fill out both units. Its too easy to contain a team’s pp when you only have to respond to a single unit with limited tools in its tool belt.

  25. crabapplesteam

Finally. At least it’s a change. Let’s see how it goes.

Rangers fans: well now hold on a minute….

  27. Mr_Tophat_Jones

If Panarin wants to start shooting then fine, otherwise Id say swap Kane/Bread and Vova. Let Vova be the shot on PP1 and let Kane/Bread be the half boards set up man on PP2. This would also give us PP1 with a lefty shot focused on shooting from the right and then swap for Zibs righty shot coming from the left on PP2 which could break up repititon of both PP shooters Panarin and Zib shooting from the same side

  28. jaccw16

In chicago, kane played the point a lot. Could have easily been kane and fox up top with mika at center, bread at left and Laf or trocheck at right. Taresenko is the obvious choice for right but u gotta have a pp2. Interested to see how it’ll work out

  29. Fox should be on both PP units, there is no reason to take him off unless he is dead tired, as he is so smart and crafty with the puck that he alone creates a ton of space by just existing on the ice.

  30. I swear gallant has to be the worlds biggest troll. There’s no way in hell he can unironically think this is correct. Either he’s a masterful troll or the biggest jackass in the nhl

  31. gleyberhood25

This seems ok if they can get even time. I’m a bit worried about taking mika off pp1 and not giving him a guy like fox who can move the defense away from mika while carrying the puck and then give him a good pass for the one timer but let’s see how it plays out

  32. Ragstoe

I would give this a very short leash. I know we all shit on the repetitive fox to Zib one timer, but it’s been very successful. The guy is like third in the league in PP goals and he’s on the second unit? Doesn’t make sense. Put Panarin on PP 2. Let Kane feed him cross ice. Panarin can feed cross ice to Vlad.

  33. Jokercard08

    PP1: All playmakers

    PP2: All shooters

    Balance.

  34. turtlesbaconpie

GG’s brain is just a slot machine with the Ranger players on the reels.

  35. dumberthenhelooks

I know they want panarin and Kane together but I’d split them up or play them with trouba in this scenario. Someone has to actually shoot instead just passing.

  36. Goldfinger_23

Hmmm. No Zib or Kreider on PP1? No Kakko at all?

Can’t say I’m a fan of how these look at the moment. Hopefully GG knows something I don’t.
