Tavares becomes your 3rd line centre because O’Reilly is the better defender, and needs to shit down elite players. I’d even say Tavares at times doesn’t come back deep enough to compensate for his slow feet and gets beat to the next often. O’Reilly was 4th in Selke voting last year for a reason. Besides, this frees up Tavares below the puck which should help him score. (You can switch out Laff & Kerf but I don’t like Kerf’s inability to win pucks on the wall in the playoffs due to his lack of physicality and Tavares’ slow pace on the same line.)

Gustafsson can come in an out for scoring. He’s been playing at an $8M dollar value this year with surprisingly solid D Metrics.
In net, Sammy has admitted he’s been nervous at times like when playing Washington this year. That doesn’t bode well for us come playoff time. If Murray can close the year focused, healthy and playing well I’d go with him, his size, technique and his playoff success bring value.

what keefe has done to bunting is shameful , if mathews shooting % was the same as last year we would not be having this conversation , and second do they really think by dropping him down in the lineup it will lower his value on the free agent market lol if anything it will only increase his desire to look else where , sheldon keefe is a bush league coach who's never won anything at the nhl level , his legacy wil be as a coach who had generational talent and never won a playoff round let alone a cup just wait
