Providing I don't see a headline that says the Edmonton Oilers trade UNDERWEAR between themselves and we actually TRY getting someone (and hopefully succeed) I'll be fairly happy (of course actually making the playoffs and hopefully going beyond the 3rd round would help a lot too but baby steps).
Deals aren't happening until they actually happen. Given Hollands track record of unimaginative trades I think the oilers make a couple of minor trades and look to the offseason where nothing happens again.
Surprised Grier didn't try harder to get rid of Karlsson. Sure, career year, but who is to say he doesn't get injured again or go back to his sub-par play of the last several years? This was arguably his best chance to shed that contract. Let's see how that works for him.
Wouldn’t mind a Yamamoto trade. Lacklustre season, partly due to injury, but has to be worth a early 2nd rounder or a 32nd ovr first rounder. Ekholm interests me, but I just hope that contract doesn’t age poorly
What about getting rid of Pulijujarvi and getting something for him? Karlsson will not happen without a high cost of assets. Even if it did, the Oilers aren't winning the cup this year.
IMO oilers should use a pick to get Schenn from Van and have them retain part of Nurse's contract .Send Van a prospect or Bouchard and a 1st rd pick and maybe a 5th and Van sends Schenn and retains part of (2.5mil) of Nurses contract…there are many loop holes in agreement… if there is a will there is a way.
Everybody is freaking out and hoping Holland will blow his brains out on a trade. He makes $5 million to not bend to pressure and make the right decision for the team and the future. You know damn well if the trade was there, it would be made.
Not sure Ekholm is great long term but Yamo goes 0-5 on grade A's tonight with 3 complete whiffles! You have to start wondering what Ken is doing after Dubas fleeces Davidson even though McCabe wasn't an option with NTC.
Ekholm? $6.5M cap hit. No cap space. $5.4M net cap hit if Yamamoto goes. Nobody wants Nurse or Puj. Thus the Oilers still need to find $5.4M. Ekholm isn't worth the $6.5M the Preds pay him but the Oilers collect bad contracts like my kid collects hockey cards.
I've said all along that Karlsson would be an almost impossible deal to make work. Ekholm might be the perfect fit. Evven with Ekholm, the biggest hurdle is that he has 3 seasons left after this one, so any Cap retention either directly by NSH or through a 3rd party would be very expensive.
With very little retention, it could be something like: Yamo + Puljujarvi + 1st round pick (or Bouchard instead of the 1st Rd pk) would likely be the cost of doing business.

Dubus is out shining Holland dubus is going to get Matthew a cup
Why I feel Oilers would end up doing very minor trades

Maybe try to move Ceci for a new D man. The nurse Ceci line is too much of a roller coaster.
I will rather go with chychrun because of age difference between chychrun and Ekholm.

A defensive dman would help. Good news is that the trade speculation will soon end and the team can focus on winning games.

Why give up a d man for another d man that doesn't make sense

IF Oilers lose to Boston and Toronto…. Holland will panic and get raped on a last second trade…
Ekholm, yes please.
I really think the oilers are goona do nothing for trades. Maybe some minor ones. But the big trades are pretty much gone at this point.
Yamo for anything would be nice. Was a fan of his but it's time to move him. He is definitely not top 6 but they keep running him out as top 6

Patrick is getting a written reprimand 💯. Love the dedication 👍

To Edmonton, Erik Karlsson, and sharks retain 1 million of his salary. To San Jose, Darnell Nurse and a 2nd round draft pick.

Puljujarvi trade opens 3 mil cap what will Holland do now
