He makes me feel the same way as I felt when I was watching Caufield highlights. He has that special « it » factor when he plays that makes me confident he’s going to be a star. Then, he goes ahead and breaks records set by current or future Hall of Famers.
I get why some are being careful, but comparisons with Norlinder feel ridiculous. Norlinder was always partly ironic. Norlinder wasn’t breaking records. Heck, Norlinder was drafted as an overager!
Hutson is a kid with an aburd high ceiling who slipped to the end of the second round solely because of size. Since, he’s grown around 2 inches and he’s exceeded the pace of current stud NCAA defensemen like Makar, Quinn Hughes or Fox. In fact, he’s matched a record set by freaking Brian Leetch in a lower scoring era. The question isn’t whether he’ll be a top 4 D; it’s whether he’ll be the 1D we are currently lacking.
