I think NYR/NJD are better run at the top (non-GM) and had better GMs. With Briere, there's hope they can do something with the high pick. NYR said we're bailing, but didn't throw all their best players out. And here they are, your pre-season favorite for Eastern Conference Champ. With a serious threat from NJD who also had two lottery picks.
It will break my heart if Laughton or Konecny go to better teams, but they deserve success.
Digging out from the disastrous contracts Fletcher signed will take a long time. So short of them winning the lottery this year, plan needs to be to take 1st overall in 2024. Which will be impossible since Torts is putting a good structure on the ice. Competitive until it turns into a talent show, and then really really ugly.

They have horrible luck with some of their star players being injured. Couturier, Atkinson, and Ellis all good players with massive cap hits injured.

I think gauthier andrae foerster (who you forgot) and brink will be fantastic. foerster has impressed so much thus far and brink was arguably the best player in NCAA last season and was seen as first round talent. desnoyers will have a lot of value for being a 5th round pick, but hes not gonna be fantastic. good hustle player or 4th liner at best. i think wisdom sucks tho. has been horrible in the AHL after having a good covid season.

Why do you constantly shit on Risto and Sanny? They're our top 2 defenseman and should be our 2 immovables on the d core. I honestly don't think you pay enough attention to this team man. Get rid of Provorov, Laughton and Hayes. Those 3 are complete wastes of space

the fact you say they dont need a full tear down tells me you DONT know what they need… this ORG.l needs a 100% tear down from the tip top of the Comcast building right down to the ice…
They also have Tyson foerester too who looks solid as well, if they land a top 5 pick this year like a bedard fantili, smith or mitchkov and coots comes back healthy they could potentially have a Gauthier, coots and bedard/fantili/smith down the middle, the centers are phillys weak point especially since they have some really good defensive prospects like Andrae, zamula, attard, and Sampson with York already on the team. It could be a quicker rebuild if done right
A complete blow up is long overdue for the flyers. There's not even a foundation to build from, it's past time to do the 76ers styles process. Be utterly awful and more importantly cheap for the next few seasons and do whatever it takes to get out of so many toxic contracts.

Charlie O’Connor of the Athletic makes a good point with Konecny: he’s a great player and we love having him on the team, however when his contract is up, the Flyers will probably have to overpay him on an extension, which would gum up their cap space when they’re actually trying to be competitive.
Konecny isn’t a top-line player on a contending team, but he’s a top-line player on the Flyers and until his injury was playing like a top-line guy because somebody was bound to end up scoring goals on a team as devoid of talent as the Flyers are.
It might be best to trade him this summer and cash in on a bunch of assets which better align with the Flyers’ development.
With that being said, I love having him on the team and would be sad to see him go
Sadly NHL rebuilds depend a lot on lottery luck. Getting a top 3 pick that leads to a franchise player will definently shorten the rebuild but bad lottery luck may ruin the rebuild.

Well you van get rid of half the defenseman and get actual defensive defenseman. I've never seen a team cough up the puck as much as these defensive players do it's ridiculous
