I think the Blues have still got some work to do, they’re not a playoff team this year much less a Stanley Cup competitor. The defense needs to be a lot better than what it is right now. Also right now they don’t seem to be able to outscore the better opponents in the NHL like the Winnipeg Jets or the Minnesota Wild. Having a strong leader on the ice would help, who fills the shoes of O’Reilly?? Jaime Benn is a hell of a Captain for the Dallas Stars and a personality type that the Blues could use in their next Captain. Someone who takes wearing the C seriously.
I am glad that the blues are better. Offense seems great rn, defense is still iffy at points but is playing a lot better, and then goaltending has been great. I am very excited to see Hofer-Binner goalie tandem. That’s another why I say keep because if you trade Binner, you are essentially relying on Griess who can only play so much (especially with age) and Hofer (not saying he ain’t good, but he is still developing ). Having 2 good goalies especially having one of them with playoff experience can help find that balance between both of them. Now if Binner starts struggling again and can’t find consistency then yes i would try to find someone else but for right now having these 2 goalies will help the team play more consistently and win a lot more games.
I was at the game last night with my daughter. The boys are lookin solid out there! It’s like a whole different look. Next season will be much better.
