Dubois est certain à 95% de rejoindre Montréal. (selon Elliote Friedman)

Based on the position something like 2nd round pick a B tier prospect would be possible I think

  2. Take PLD from free agents, draft Connor Bedard, leave all other teams in Montreal made dust, bring the cup home for the next 5 seasons, and once more in subsequent 3 years, create a dynasty. GIVE NOTHING but pain, suffering, humiliation and + goals to the others!

Align some Calder, Rocket, Conn Smythe, and Vezina…

Oh, and have Anthony Richard play like if he was Maurice.

  3. After the Drouin… experiment. I wouldn't touch this guy unless there is some kind of discount.

  4. IF we get him this summer via a trade that does not hurt us in any way (otherwise Hugues won't trade and will wait I think, simple as that), then I REALLY hope that his contract won't break the culture à la Boston Hugues wants to instill in the team.

My opinion if signed this summer : 6 years/$45,000,000 (so $7,500,000 per year).
    Why?

Duration : 6 years, it makes sense. It's what remain of our captain Suzuki's contract. We get 3-4 years with both while being competitive (hopefully). It's also VERY attractive for PLD because coming out of a contract as a 30-31 years old player is a significant difference than being 32-33; if he is constant and healthy, he's going to have another huge opportunity to for his last big contract.

    Amount :
    – if you look at it right now, PLD and Suzuki are basically equal when it comes to production. Although to be honest, given Suzuki's role and what people he had to play with, I think his point were harder to get than PLD's.
    – But the latter brings more physicality. Both have yet to reach their possible ceiling. They both bring something different, while producing in a similar pace.
    – For those reasons and to help establish a contract friendly culture, I think he shouldn't get more than what Suzuki is making.
    – It will still be a salary bump of $1.5M from the $6,000,000 he is currently making, and 6 years instead of the year he signed.
    – Suzuki will have 6 years left in his contract and with yearly cap hit of $7,875,000
PLD would sign for 6 years, and with this contract it's going to be a yearly cap hit of $7,500,000

The big picture is that PLD will be paid pretty much the same as Suzuki, but symbolically, a little (REALLY little) amount less. You can still present it all as being the same, but Suzuki has more responsibilities in and outside the ice since he is the captain of the team, etc.

BTW, as I quickly mentioned it will still be a significant salary bump for PLD since he's making $6,000,000 under his current 1 year contract (so $1.5M more per year). But with the enormous benefit of 6 years of security. Also, if he's healthy and constant, he'll still be able to get another big contract after that, since he's going to be what, 30-31 years old?

    Let me know 🙂

What do you guys think? Does 6 years/$45,000,000 for a cap hit of $7,500,000 per year (keeping in mind that Suzuki's cap hit is $7,875,000) would make sense?

  5. No Laner hudmieter or Logie the pogie 😅 there to valuable 🙂 and the girls in Montreal won't mind if Logan takes naked pics of them horney French girls 🙂

  6. Getting flashbacks of the Drouin trade. Do NOT give up a good prospect. We can have him for nothing summer 2024. Just wait.

  7. florida’s first, 2024 2nd, Beck Norlinder, to winnipeg, dubois to montreal is what id do

  8. No way we get for 2nd rounder and B prospect. If that’s the case WINNIPEG keeps him and trades at TDL for a couple of first rounders.

  9. PLD is an RFA. Hughes is too crafty to make another Sebastian Aho situation. With a trade PLD's arbitration salary will be set at 6mil. If Hughes waits to sign PLD in the summer he might have to pay 9 or 10 mil.

  10. I think if we have PLD we can unload josh anderson (might need to for salary cap reasons anyway) for a first and a prospect (goalie prospect wouldn't be a bad idea) or perhaps they could sneak into the playoff picture and keep Anderson. Regardless someone has to go to clear up cap space. We still need money for our young d-core in the near future not to mention cole Caufield still hasn't signed.

  11. As a Jets fan I’m not happy that Dubois would be moving. I know that tons of Jets fans love Dubois and how he plays. He’s a key part of the team

  12. I would be happy to trade norlinder and this year's second for Dubois but not more than that simply for the fact that he's demanded a trade on his last 3 teams ( that includes juniors) and keeps saying he's coming here but a long term contract would have to be included in the deal because he's a red flag store for myself. But he's a hell of a hockey player

  13. Armia/Edmunson + and 2nd round pick and maybe a guy like Owen Beck should be the maximum they get.

  14. Montreal is a bottom 5 team as of right now. There is a lot more to fix than the forward corps (even though it does need a bit of help).

The Habs' D corps is basically 23 years olds + Matheson and Savard. The team is very very young and giving up a 1st + one of those young dmen and most likely another prospect, might just be too steep for a 60pt player that needs an extension.

And as for the goalie situation 😬😬
Montembeault and Allen are just not it at all. Do you sign, draft or trade for a starter?

I hope Hughes just waits it out and keeps the Habs' draft picks. There's a lot more that needs improving before making an aggressive trade.

  15. Imo, If Montreal draft 1st or second, I don’t see the habs going for PLD. Good plan B if Montreal doesn’t draft a top end center at the 2023 draft

  16. The only issue with this is that Dubois is a restricted free agent at the end of this season, so if Montreal wanted to pick him up they would have no choice but to trade for him. As a Jets fan I hope they take him.

  17. I DONT WANT HIM. He's wayyyy to injury prone and drama seems to follow him.
