    From what I can gather:

Miller is considered a core piece.

Bear is considered a valuable addition; important context for qualifying him or not.

It appears we are going to keep our first round pick.

  2. helixflush

Could they have chose a worse photo for Jim?

  3. GobertoBobongo

I’m not buying seasons as I planned to. I’ll maybe buy a few game packs until this team shows that they actually have a successful plan to become sustainably competitive.

He’s always been good with words since he got here. He finally got the coach he wanted and made a few changes to the roster. Now we have to see if his plan really works or if we’re out of the playoffs in November again.

To all the people that called hiring Tocchet was obviously just about selling season tickets for next year, Bravo. You nailed it

  6. Miruzzz

Boeser is good as gone from this statement

  7. Bigbootyy17

I mean it’s the same as always…. Interesting that this is his first real communication with the public since he said he was going to dial it back a bit…

Some of the moves have been intelligent and progressive, while other moves have been short sighted like the previous regime. Dealing picks while being a bottom feeder team will never get my support. That’s like buying a nice chair to put inside a home you’re demolishing.

If they can rod themselves of some serious cap in the summer, like Myers and Boeser then maybe I’ll take the team more seriously. Until then all they’ve done is add wingers and switch one core piece for another.

Not naming OEL, Myers, Boeser 😬

  9. resolve028

The classic late-season surge when games no longer matter and the owner/executive letter to season ticket holders combo.

How many times are they going to run this play lol?

  10. ANarrowUrethra

« Managing our cap space by using all options available to us » sticks out most to me honestly. If he’s not talking about buyouts idk what that means.

  11. AS_Empire

JR really went out of his way not to mention Boeser. I think he will 100% be traded this off-season.

  12. burdsandwich

I feel good about next season. But, I say that every year lol. It’ll be an interesting start to next season. Please compete 😂

  13. Appropriate-Fig-5171

Pretty unsurprising letter. Leaving out Garland and Boeser may indicate a buy out. Also, I like Bear, but he’s a 5/6 dman. Imagine positioning it as if though it’s something to get excited about.

I’m just wondering if they have any plans to trade Miller in the off-season, but it seems like once again that ship has sailed.

  14. Intersteller-2002

The fact that they are not interested in getting Bedard makes this season all that much harder to swallow…

  15. TarsesaK

Not saying i want or don’t want, but given the climate in Calgary and their afinity for former Canucks. Is there a world where Miller for Kadri happens?

  16. cairo852

My pair of seats went up from $14k to $15k.
    I opted out.

  17. Miller and Bear are two of Rutherfords biggest adds right? Course you bring them up. Surprised Kuzy isn’t highlighted more.

  18. nite_awol

    so core players are JT/Petey/Demko/Hughes

    supporting players are Kuz,Mikheyev,Hronek/Bear

intresting that Mikheyev was mentioned in that letter instead of Boeser, Beauvillier and Garland.

I can see Brock and Garland trade at the draft for picks and Beauvillier is a good trade bait to sell high on.

  19. Miruzzz

My pair of seats increased by 500$, I’m out

  20. bryant-reeves

Rutherford with the classic Mary-Kathryn Ghallagher pose, nice.

  21. Brymes13

Im glad this email had an opt out button at the bottom. No seasons for me this year, can’t give my tickets away for free let alone recoup cost when I can’t make it, threw away at least $1k of tix. Just going to buy singles when I feel like going.

  22. Soap_BoxerShorts

Anyone wondering why a few of their top wingers weren’t mentioned (ie Garland, Boeser, Beauvillier) is because I think they want to offload at least 2 of them to make room for Hoglander and Podkolzin. Which brings up the point of if they can’t offload any of them then they could buy them out or someone else with a higher salary out and use those 3 wingers which is also why Hoglander and Podkolzin aren’t mentioned in the guys coming up.

  23. Successful-Pea-9557

Thank God he indicated that he plans to keep our 1st rounder.

  24. troyoz_

They could have picked any picture of Jim that they wanted to. So, why did they pick the one picture where he crosses his arms and wears a facial expression that looks like he’s staring at a world-ending comet?

  25. dr_van_nostren

Post script…oh ahhh by the way, ticket prices are going up and so is beer DEUCES!

  26. acmexyz

This is a useless letter telling the fans what we already know. We’re all aware who is on the roster and who is in upper management. We know these things.

  27. Sinochick

Does anyone still have Aqua’s letter a few years back when he mentioned how excited the team was to have that first round pick which they promptly traded away two months later in the OEL/Garland deal? I remember Aqua mentioned how the team was getting younger and more exciting with having Podz and Hoggy in the prospect pool etc.

So I wouldn’t take anything that’s said in Rutherford’s letter about who the core is etc. We’ve had so many disappointing seasons that at this point I want half this roster to be changed and not just the fringe players.
