It’s understandable if theres family back in Russia
GLFR_59
It’s been well documented that Russian players are putting their families back at home under risk if they ‘promote’ pride nights. Can’t blame him.

Love him still, it’s his choice. Not going to change my views on this amazing player and great teammate.

I’m bi, can we please just respect their choices? Russian players are putting their families in Russia at risk if they support this stuff. I’m done hearing about it.

I dont think anyone actually cares about this stuff.

I think it’s time I left this subreddit. Someone please let me know when we start talking about hockey again.

This is just starting to feel like public calls to action for witch hunts at this point. I get it, we don’t agree with them, but like come on, let’s focus on the people who are supporting it for once, nothing but negativity over and over. Let’s see some positivity at least
ky__mitch
It’s sad to see that some folks need “ proof “ that his family is actually at risk. Does that really matter ? What happened to us just respecting each others opinions, regardless if they align or not. We can all co-exist without having the same views on everything. The overblown media attention on these isolated situations needs to stop

The dichotomy of r/NHL.
One side hates, other side doesn’t care.
Ioncurtain
Ok, why does it matter? He could not participate for any other reason and it wouldn’t be a problem.
nedstark1985
It would be best if they don’t post who is and who isn’t. Realistically if they do not post about it no one will really see it or ask the questions about it after.

NHL needs to drop pride night altogether.

Why are Russians driven to kill a player’s family if they wear a rainbow shirt for half an hour but all good with US Military appreciation jerseys?
Calligrapher-Extreme
No way, another guy…….. We get it.
Sea-Farmer4654
Why would Russia put these players in danger for wearing pride jerseys but not for wearing camo jerseys supporting the US military

It’s crazy that a government would punish a family because a family member in a different country wears a rainbow jersey for 10 minutes. That’s a sign right there that you need a new government.
FrozenFishHead41968
Or is it just everyone is sick and tired of catering to such a low but whiny percentage of the population just so feelings don’t get hurt?
zion2199
Why not just recognize the progress of having so many other players participate? Instead always spending so much time talking about the few that don’t.
VinegarPie
I didn’t know Jimmy Fallon played hockey.
Sensitive_Mousse_445
Wish the league would do away with all themed nights. They’re all cash grabs and ego strokes.

I’m not against anyone, do whatever you want. However, PLEASE do not EXPECT everyone to agree with how you choose to live your life. You must respect that stance as well. Enough with this shit.

I watch and follow hockey fairly regularly, and I can say with 100% certainly that Kezmenko isn’t known by 95% of hockey fans outside of Vancouver, yet here he is making national headlines for this. So ridiculous. Leave these players alone.
