And Leafs are stuck with Murray for another year while their main goalie Samsonov is an RFA – they'll have to pay to retain him. Probably $3.5 Mil per leaving even less cap space for Matthews, Marner and Nylander.

I hope Murray is ok but i think this is a blessing in disguise before the playoffs…I don't trust Murray to be healthy or good enough plus Woll and Samsonov are 10 x better anyway.
This thinking that Murray will be better just because he was very good years ago and has playoff experience years ago is nonsence…he is not that good anymore and when you continue to get injured you have no chance to get back to that level. Samsonov and Woll the rest of the way no matter what happens with Murray!!!
Perhaps it is time for the Leaf Executives to give up on this core. Reilly & JT can be traded after this playoffs series. Maybe they might even win a playoff series with the Leafs – a team that is going for 8 playoff losses in a row this spring. Leaf Executives should attempt to sign a new contract with Matthews & consider trading Auston at this year’s draft if he is not interested in signing another long term Leaf contract. No point in having Matthews leave without Toronto getting anything in return. The Leaf organization gambled & Murray’s injuries are well know. Too bad.
If I am Toronto I am swearing my head off that Murray got an injury. Joseph Woll and Erik Kallgren are not the goalies for a long playoff run. I guess the growlers goalies get called up and growlers sign some junior free agents.
They played Woll a couple of weeks ago, and he did good. Maybe he'll live up to his name. Samsonov seems to be doing better again. Sucks that we have Murray, even 55 year old Curtis Joseph would be better than him.
