The Bruins look good enough to do it, but so did the 2019 Lightning.
I hope they lose. They haven’t faced much adversity this season, so I’m not sure how they’d respond. No easy match ups for them. If they face the Islanders, Sorokin could stone them.
Nah
I don’t think so. I remember the ’96 Red Wings riding high on those 62 wins they had. They crushed the league that year. And then the Avalanche took them down. The Eastern conference has a number of teams that could put up a fight before the Bruins get to the Final. That’s where I think they’re going down.
I’ll say this, though: IF the Bruins get to the final, I don’t know what team from the West is going to be able to beat them in it.
Oilers might have a say in that They really upgraded their blue line.
Obviously 10 years is a tiny sample size, but it’s interesting how the PT winner is more likely to win the cup the next year. Could just be noise though.
Ahh 2016 and 17… good times
I’m surprised Tampa only won the presidents trophy once during this era
That 2013 was the strike shortened season. I loved the intensity of that shortened season schedule. The season starting in January every game meant so much more. With all the stadium revenue and tv deals this schedule could never happen.
As a Bruins fan the Rangers make me nervous. No one from the west does though.
They won’t. No logical explanation other than I feel like the blew their wad during the season and won’t be able to keep it up throughout the playoffs. Please don’t kill me .
Hopin oilers come thru and win
I didn’t remember the Panthers won the Presidents’ trophy last year. What a drop this year! 😖
No
I think Vegas or Carolina will get it
Bruins sub
I dunno, but what is interesting is that during that time span the Avs, Caps, and Lightning all won the cup the year after they won the President’s Trophy.
16 & 17👌
Not gonna do it
I forgot how good the 2018 Nashville team was.
I really wish they would because I have been a Bruins fanatic for 40 years and this may be my last chance
Bruins will get sweet vindication after a few recent futile attempts at glory.
Well if stats are to say anything, IT WOULD BE THE PANTHERS???! Although I guess it also suggests it would be Boston. I definitely don’t think it’s happening cause my boys are winning but it would be nuts
I think Boston goes to the Stanley Cup, loses in Game 7 to L.A. and it ends up being the best series ever
Well if anyone does it, it’s this Boston team
Same thing as I said last year, the east is gonna wear itself down this year compared to the west. There’s no team I can look at right now in the playoff picture and for sure say they’ll be an easy out. Teams like Toronto, both New York teams, New Jersey and more will all be a pain in the ass to play against. Even if they’re eliminated the effects of the series will linger in injury and exhaustion, a la Tampa Bay in the 2022 finals – they were dog tired.
1 and done
The panthers were so hot last regular season, they averaged like 4 goals a game
Forgive me, as I’m new to hockey and only been following for about a month or so. But what’s the presidents trophy?
They’re the team to beat no matter what. They’ve got a seasoned core, a ton of depth, a guy in bet who’s having a hell of a year, and a coach who can get results in a variety of ways from players.
That said, anyone who is going into the playoffs in the East is in for a damn dog fight. There’s a lot of teams that have great rosters right now that are turning it back on at the right time. Other than Toronto and New Jersey I’d say anyone could get it done there.
The west won’t be nearly as enjoyable until the playoffs get deeper I feel. Might not even get many great matchups until the conference finals honestly.
They gotta do it for Bergeron, but I’m so afraid of the Hurricanes
Man, this just goes to show what a good indicator the President’s Trophy is. 6/10 Cup winners won it within three years of their Cup.
I think Boston does it, and fairly efficiently. If you look at the historical numbers, it happens about 1/4 of the time where the president’s trophy winner also wins the cup. But that could be changing with expansion and increased competitiveness. Recently, it’s been a high-scoring eastern team running away with the president’s trophy and then a western team with superior team defense or Tampa winning the cup.
Sadly I have been thinking Cassidy and the Knights have the stars aligned to say Fuk you Boston
Probably not. The east is loaded and playoff hockey is way different than regular season. It’s going to be brutal for them in 2nd and 3rd round. Something tells me they’re going to run out of gas, especially since they have so much pressure to win. Anything less than a cup is a failure. We will see, can’t wait for the playoffs!
Once playoffs start things get…different.
Press X to doubt.
