Well the As are notoriously cheap and lower the integrity of the mlb. As a mets fan, i can acknowledge the spending is wild, but also a fresh breath of air from the wilpons.

More like a salary floor. The A’s have had some success sure, but they are far from a model franchise for attracting fans. Stadium is terrible, any decent player is guaranteed to be gone before arbitration hits. Sure the Mets spending like crazy isn’t ideal either, but rather see a team go for it than the crap the A’s throw against the wall trying to find the next trade chip.

It’s one of the main reasons I stopped watching baseball. Every time I grew to like a player, a rich team swooped in and bought them out. One time my team actually spent money for an All Star pitcher and he ended up being a dud until we traded him.

North America is the only place on earth that expects every team in the top tier of its leagues to be competitive. Look at European soccer, plenty of poverty teams and the leagues are still exciting. Who gives a shit if the A’s and Pirates won’t spend money? More good players available for good teams to play on. No one looks back at those Red Wings and Avs teams in the 90’s and says “man, I wish the salary cap watered down those lineups.”
