With the Islanders clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2021, the Penguins will miss the postseason for the first time since 2006 (that's the last time the NBA's Sacramento Kings made the playoffs until this year).
Penguins fan here, I have nothing but respect for the Islanders as they definitely deserved a playoff seed more than we did. The streak didnt and doesnt matter, what matters is how efficiently we can adapt and retool for the next season. It was a great run, but we fell short. Nice work Islanders and good luck in the first round against Carolina or Boston. I think its about time the Devils, Wild, Leafs, Golden Knights, or the Oilers get a crack at the cup.

The amount of ppl in the comments here who forget the Islanders currently aren't set to face boston is insane… Florida has to win against the canes, who would probably want to secure their 1st division spot. Still a likely chance florida could be facing boston

The Islanders have made it into the playoffs without Barzal in their lineup for the last 23 games! It's insane how much heart this team has and a lot of players stepped up their game including Sorokin. I'm incredibly proud of them.
