Sucks. I’d love to know how his recovery went from 12 weeks to a year.

  3. Function-Over9

I think the writing was on the wall on this one, we really shouldn’t be surprised.

Remember when the Avs won a Stanley Cup with Forsberg out in the playoffs? Time to get those vibes going.

  4. getodachappa

Not really surprising. Dude still hasn’t skated with the team. Probably hard to go from not playing in 10months to playing in the crazy intense playoffs

  5. TantuG24

What does this do for his career? Is it potentially in jeopardy?

  6. Johnnyojvan

I’m just worried he might be done for good. What knee injury keeps you out a whole season? This is not good

  7. kimmers33

RIP LTIR space we could have used.

  8. bgfan26

And the decision to not use that money at the trade deadline continues to boggle the mind

  9. time2churn

    Fucking ouch.

Let’s watch a funny cup ceremony with Landy out there having done nothing all year.

Avs have to petition to get his name on cup lol

  10. troglodyte

Not surprised. I’m really bummed not to see him on ice this year, but relieved the pressure is off him and hopeful that this gives him the time to get fully healthy– for his sake first and the Avs second.

  11. ihatethedodgers

Really hope this isn’t a sign of worse things to come for him. He pushed through a lot to play last postseason and I hope it doesn’t cost him a lot more than just this year…

  12. New_Nebula_8447

Georgiev isn’t going to need to be a brick wall, he will need to be fucking Fort Knox, and Eller and other depth players need to step up BIG time if we want to repeat.

  13. Collie123

I think this is a move to save his career tbh, the avs window is no where close to closing and to force him to play and possibly ruin it is not the way to go. He comes back 110% next training camp makes next season a playoff push year again

  14. NahdiraZidea

Darn, Pete (RIP) right after they won last year on the ice said how great a leader Landy is and how ppl underestimate his leadership, gonna be a tough run without him.

  15. His timeline went from 6 weeks to not playing in the regular season to looking poised to not only play in playoffs, but be close to 100%…. And now he isn’t playing at all? Woof. Hope the damage isn’t as severe as this makes it sound.

  16. NuggAvsBroncRock

I had a feeling he wasn’t going to come back in the playoffs listen I remember last year people wanted Murray and mpj to come back and play for the nuggets last year but if you haven’t played a sport in a lot of period of time it’s hard to get ready for that playoff atmosphere

  17. ChickenParm18

Are we ever going to learn what the injury was? I can’t stand how vague hockey is with injuries. Not mad at Landy at all wish him a full recovery but to go from back in January to out through potentially June there’s gotta be something they can say.

  18. HoodPhones

This hurts my heart. Oh captain my captain <3

He legit sacrificed his knee to bring a cup to Denver last year

  19. mikess101

God damn this is a heartbreaker 🙁 I’m glad they made the call now so the guys can look around the room and know that what they have now is the final answer, time for guys to step up and time for an absolute full send performance from the team you have, nothing can be done at this point to change the personnel available. Dig deep and let’s get going

  20. OpenSourceSlayer

Ugh I was holding out hope

  21. TheLateFry

Ah fuck I can’t believe you’ve done this

  22. AvsAholic

Put him in a suit & tie on the bench.. please and thanks.

  23. 5280nessie_rider

So who do they hand the cup to first this year?

  24. anemic_royaltea

We’re so accustomed to medical miracles and superhuman athletic recovery that it’s almost shocking when a knee injury does what knee injuries used to do all the time– I just hope there’s light at the end of the tunnel for the Captain. Gave it his all to deliver the cup, I cannot fathom bitching about one’s stupid fantasy team or worrying about cap space… this is the Captain of the Stanley Cup Winning Colorado Avalanche, keep your concerns on the human being who hasn’t been able to do what he does best for almost a year.

  25. Luna4589

Not unexpected news, unfortunately. Still very tough to hear confirmation.

  26. thedog318

Well now there is only one thing to do…win it for Landy’s Knee. Get better Cap our ship will be here when you’re ready.

  27. Rolley2001

I’m just hoping he’ll make a full recovery. Playing rn would absolutely jeopardize his career and his knee.

Still, I miss seeing our Sexy Swedish Hunk of a Captain on the Ice

This whole season has been a bummer for me. Team just doesn’t feel like the avs without him. Not going to get upvotes, but it’s the honest truth. Hopefully lehky is enough for me

  29. Intelligent_Bad6942

So I’m getting very scary vibes for the rest of his career based off this press conference…
